Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "And that's how we loafed through the whole thing."
Hoppy October, Everybun!

We're incredibly grateful to post the update from home, with power on and no damage. All we got here was some wind and a little bit of rain. Of course, it's almost impossible to wrap our heads around how lucky we got. When you see the damage Ian inflicted on placed 100 miles south of us, that's how bad it would have been here.

I would say it would have been worse. The hurricane would have gained even more strength if it stayed over water any longer than it did. Ian landed in Port Charlotte with 155 mph winds - just 2 miles shy of a Category 5 hurricane - but who's counting.
We wonder what good would all our preparations be? What do we do next time something like that comes along? We'll prep and secure the house, of course - but shouldn't we just up and leave while the leaving is good?

The weather system that pushed Ian into south Florida brought very cool temperatures. It feels like Fall - very - very unusual for this time of year. We won't complain.

We'll keep you posted!
- Espresso

PS: Ian's eye right before landfall - it's the size of the entire St. Pete area.

So happy to hear you are all safe and unscathed! Have family all over Florida who also safely escaped Ian's wrath. Sounds like celebration salaaads and carrotinis are in order :)=
