The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso, as Mr. Spressos

Good Evening, Everybun!

"On a night like this, even the mosquitos stay grounded, Agent Hoomin. What are you doing here, anyway? I know, I know, the urge to blend in with 'the normal' is too much sometimes," said Mr. Spressos.

The hoomin listened, pretending not to see him and nodded. He kept fanning himself with the latest, folded broadsheet of headlines. It didn't help. The hoomin wanted to go on about the heat, the wild ducks sweltering in the shade with their beaks open. He wanted to tell Mr. Spressos about this funny thing he noticed. The hotter it gets, the concentration of despair rises in the air, and it freezes hope out every breath. Flakes of the soul precipitate out of every exhalation, and the thoughts of the future turn into ash. But he didn't.

"Did you hear about the cloud of dust from the desert heading our way? What's it made of, I mean, really?" asked the hoomin.

Good night and good luck

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus did not let the kale suffer.

Charlie sneaked out from her tunnel and pounced on the dill.

Espresso; Espresso had to be different. He terrorized the dandelions staring them down for the longest time.

Greetings, Everybunny!

Since we all live in a strange form of inverted reality, our hoomin decided to invert the garden salaaaads. Now, come dinner time, overflowing salaaaad gardens spill out of the bowls.

We don't know how this came about exactly. Maybe the hoomin watched too many garden shows with Monty Don or something. But, the tiny, surreal tropical scenes are yammeh, crispeh, and all-around delightful.

We'll keep you posted,
- Gus

Set up small cardboard rings to support the greens.

Filling the rings with the greens, starting with some romaine.

 Keep adding dandelion and wheatgrass.

Bokchoy, fennel, and raspberries on cawwot sticks top off the salaaaad gardens.

"Your credit card? What's a credit card, hoomin?"
"Oof, I thought she was going to ask about her checkbook!"

- Thank you, Susan, and SCHRR!

PS: They really are Gingersnap and Maggie May. We had them confused before, but we're getting the hang of it slowly. And, of course, they are looking for their for ever home.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good Evening, Everybun!

Yes, hoomin, that's a pfft in your general direction. It's most generous of me, I know. That's in case you turned off the news and such, and managed to bliss out for a bit. Now you can fret over what you think you might have done. You can't thump about it, too. After all, it is the bunday evening thumps.

And last but not least, Mr. Spressos sends his regards. He says he never watches you, and knows not what you're up to every second of the day and night.

Good night, and good luck,
- Espresso

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "Espresso does have the better bundo."
Espresso, "Yes, I know how to share a bowl of pellets, hoomin. I'm not a complete thumping hairball of meanness!"

Greetings, Everybunny!

When one of my hoomins starts her workday, I sometimes come over to visit Espresso for the day. And when the working day is done, I go back to Gus. But my days with Spresso tend to be on the long side. A few times, I came "home" barely in time for the dinner salaaaad.

So we plod along. Oh! The good news is that all three of us tested negative for parasites, and the check-up is "done" done.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

Peach

My bunnitude is overwhelming, isn't it, hoomin?  So, pick up your mouf off the floor and get on with the nannerinis, will ya!?

- Thank you, Susan, and SCHRR!

PS: Well, it turns out that Peaches is now Peach, and as Susan put's it, "We've just discovered he's a fine strapping lad." Peach is adjusting, doing very well, and his bunitude is of the highest, most disapproving quality. Of course, he'll be looking for his forever home soon.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus

Espresso, "Pffft! EBA next time foot! I'll believe when I go!"

Good Evening, Everybun!

We had to scrub the EBA. Storms rolled in yesterday evening, and today, one of the hoomins obliterated the back yard flora with the lawnmower. We expect the vegetation to recover reasonably quickly, though. The daily showers rejuvenated everything green. My hoomins on the other paw ... Everybun seems to be worn out lately, and the days are going by faster and faster. So we'll keep it extra short, and maybe next week we'll make it sweeter.

Good night, and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Greetings, Everybunny!

I have nothing new to report and it's a case of "no news is good news." My hoomins gathered up quotes for a new roof and I imagine work on that will commence pretty soon. The only thing my hoomin is worried about is how loud will it get? Is there a way to sound proof our bundos? For sure, those are bunderful problems to have.

After all this rain the past couple of weeks, the back yard came to life. We're contemplating another evening EBA to enjoy the overgrowth before the mower does its worst.

We'll keep you posted,
- Espresso

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good Evening, Everybun!

Charlie towered over her dinner salad like a magnanimous, fearsome lioness. She decided to take a different tack with her hoomin. He seemed terribly mortified and not in a good way. "Why not let him play 'Agent Hoomin' and 'Mr. Spressos'?" she wondered.

The drippage from the leaky roof already dissolved what was left of her hoomin's brain. Those were the final drops. Pretty soon, there would be nothing left for the straight jacket to hold.

So the hoomin played with "Mr. Spressos." They dreamed of a cold and misty night in a park, with patches of ground fog rolling by. They talked and talked. "Mr. Spressos" kept on pretending to keep something up the sleeve of his black trench coat, never fully letting on what's on his mind. The hoomin worked on a little, Sculpey figurine of a surreal bunn. There was no more news or leaves on the trees, but only the mist passing through the shrubs on the other side of the walkway as it rolled under the jaundiced light of the street lamp. The post clock froze with hands up in the air.

Good night, and good luck.
- Charlie

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Greetings, Everybunny!

The good news is, out V. E. T. checkup went well, and we're as healthy as we can be. Today I send our hoomin with the raisin samples back to the V. E. T. Hopefully, the lab results will come back clean.

It's been raining the whole week, and it looks like we have the same in store for next week. The groovy, rainy are bunderful, except the roof is now leaking like a sieve. The patches our hoomin put in place held up well, but now the rest of the leaks showed up. It's rather overwhelming. We're afraid a new roof is in order.

This guy is slowly churning in the Gulf, and its outer bands are dropping tones of rain.

Of course, it could be so, so much worse. Our hoomin will work from home for the foreseeable future. Word came down from the tar pits that they will have no proper front office for bun knows how long. Some folks will be working from the warehouse.

All I care about is that our head rubs and snorgles will go on uninterrupted. And all the hoomin has to do is to put one paw in front of the other. You know, the same way we do it.

We'll keep you posted,
- Espresso

Peaches (update)

Yes, of course, all my nannerinis are medicinal now, hoomin!

- Thank you, Susan, and SCHRR!

PS: The recovery for Peaches took a complicated turn during her vet follow up last week. The cast came off, but the leg couldn't heal and she lost her front paw. That said, she was eating, drinking, and pooping like a champ right away and her bunnitude is as fierce as ever. And yes, she'll be looking for a forever home.
