Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update - Rheya

Charlie and Gus, "You really do know how to get on our nerves, don't you, hoomin!?"

Espresso, "It's a chunk 'o lettuce. I wish it WAS my toof; would make some things easier - get my drift?"

Rheya, "So, you're a glorified cookie dealer, eh?"

Greetings, Everybunny!

The week got my hoomin flipped over and on his back somehow, but he's wings-level. It helped to have Rheya set up next to his work desk. You just turn the chair, lean over, and there she is - ready for head rubs.

Espresso managed to sneak out to play paddy cakes with Rheya. We know he wanted to perform an act of murderism on her. My hoomin cradled him off; Spressy hissed, shivered, and squealed from the disappointment. He's been trying to be on his best behavior ever since, meaning he probably forgot about her.

For her part, Rheya is doing well. She enjoyed a little bit of brushing. Most of her "street life" crusties came out, and her coat is smoothing out. She is even more velvety to the touch than she looks. She also gained a few ounces of disapproval and clocked in this morning at 3.4 lbs.

Rheya found a way to run zoomies in her enclosure, mastered the art of flopping on her side, and sleeping with her eyes opened. If my hoomin didn't know any better, he would have had a heart attack.

One of my hoomins wants to introduce Rheya to Gus, but that, of course, might be the end of the foster adventure. She would bond with Gus and Charlie, and 'Spresso would salivate over two prospective victims.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

Cutie Pie

We can do it easy way or the hard way, hoomin! One last time - where did you hide the cawwots!?

- Thank you, Carol!

PS: Our hoomin met Cutie Pie and her husbun, Little Guy, (rescues from the Georgia House Rabbit Society) last week. We have a connection to them via all the extra willow and kudzu leaves in our snacks and salads.

So we like to give Cutie's hoomin a plug since she has an Etsy store with all those goodies. There are the willow, kudzu and toys for buns. The stuff is as bunny-tested as it gets.

The store is here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/lilysbunnytreats/

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus
Charlie
Rheya,  the Rescue Rexie, figured out in no time what to do with a raspberry.
Good Evening, Everybun!

We're trying to take it pretty easy today. It only took a couple of sleepless nights for my hoomin to fold toward the end of the week, and we're still trying to get the wings level. It's going to be an early night for everybunny.

The new girl eats like a champ, inhales hale, devours greens, and poops like a pro. No bun could ask for more.

We're still not sure what the color of her fur is. For the moment, it's that of a helpless bun dumped somewhere and left to fend for bunself in the infernal Florida sun, with a tinge of brown. We suspect she might be a shade between Inconel and titanium, a lucky gray. Burnished and darkened by her exposure to hoomin nature. Maybe we can help her heal some of that.

Another good thing that happened last week was that our hoomins got to meet a couple of rescue buns and their hoomins. There was a lot of picture taking, and we'll have more on that next week.

 Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update - Rheya

Rheya, "They waz gonna do what to me at the pound!?"

Espresso, "I'm tellin' ya, I can smell somebunny strange here!"

Greetings, Everybunny!

Something strange is going on since yesterday. I think my hoomin finally snapped. I heard him talk to somebun I couldn't see. There's a funny smell coming from the kitchen, and it's not the stench of burned water for tea.

I sayz to him, "Is there something I need to know!?"
"Yes, there iz," says my hoomin.

We have a rescue in the house. My hoomin named her Rheya, after one of the characters in "Solaris" by Lem. She came from a pound in Sarasota, where today, she was supposed to get "pruned from the timeline."

Now she's a foster. She still needs her special operation. We don't know how old she is or if she's still growing. Yesterday she clocked in at an under whopping three pounds. But, she seems to be in good spirits - eats hay like a madbun. Last night she inhaled her first dinner salad - cleaned the bowl.

The official line right now is that she's looking for her forever home. Only time will show how that's going to work out.

We'll keep you posted,
- 'Spresso

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Charlie, "Well, hoomin - what's it that you want? Why are you here? I don't see any cookies and I don't imagine you have the password either!"

Espresso as "Espresso" - "Mr. Spressos" is on summer vacation ;-)
Good Evening, Everybun!

My hoomin was in a peculiar mood all week, contemplating "clarity." It's easy to attribute positive qualities to clarity; think of it as something better than "not knowing," better than disorientation or uncertainty.

The job my hoomin had been hoping for fell through. Technically it is still available but would require moving three hundred miles and working in a physical office for a lot less hay. The heartbreak felt clear enough.

So, he may as well stick with the job at paw and go with the flow. Maybe this is working out the way it should? Maybe it's OK, for once, to accept that a good thing happened? The job is going well enough. Inevitably, it will morph and change as all things do, but we're not there yet.

Of course, listening to all that nonsense is annoying as thump, but that's the price I pay for mind reading.

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "Retro loafing - never goes out of style."
Charlie, "No, you don't eat enough greens - there's not such thing as enough greens!"

Greetings, Everybun!

Atlantic is quiet, and there's nothing in particular on the agenda. Somehow we never get enough loafing done. After this post goes up, the day seems to slide toward the evening. We'll throttle back, extend the tucks and soak up the minutes.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

Talk to the angry tail, M*nd*y - we're not in the mood!

- Thank you, Rondi!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

"No fuss Gus"
'Spressy, as the "Murderiser!"

Good Evening, Everybun!

Our hoomin finally delivered on the promise of new bundos. Last night, 'Spresso received a new tunnel and another "Bun Station" module and begun testing them. ( I had immediately filed a complaint with the Bunstonautis And Aerospace Administration - how come both bundos went to the murderiser!? Thump!)

This morning, 'Spressy commenced a test-to-failure of the Bun Station module by channeling his spirit-philosopher, Uripydisup, and tearing off a corner of the "roof."

My hoomin tried to document the test, but Espresso ceased all testing activities at first sight of the camera. I guess that had to be some top-secret test! Perhaps more will be revealed next week. I can promise you that my tests will be done in the open and everybun will be invited to watch.

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "See? You just gotta chill, like that guy."

Espresso, "Tucks - the tucks have to be out and you have to streeeeeeeetch!"

Greetings, Everybun!

It's amazing how a short week never fails to make up for a holiday with all sorts of crazy. Elsa came and went by, thank bun. My hoomin finally got the generator running Tuesday afternoon. The brick came to life once he rigged up a battery for it. One push of the starter switch, and the beast was roaring.

We tried to cool down the house as much as possible and waited for the power to go out. It stayed on! Rain and wind raged and howled as Elsa drifted north. No bun got much sleep Tuesday night.

At least all was well on the morning of Odin's day. A branch of the seagrape in front of the house came down but did no harm.

We'll try to chill today and take it easy. Espresso is leading by example - noming pellets from time to time, stretching and loafing between the pellets and water bowls. It's a hint.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

The Bunday M*nd*y Update

Greetings, Everbunny!

We interrupt our usually scheduled programming to on about nothing in particular. Our hoomin (with a lower "h") has a day off, so things are and feel a bit off.

He's said he'll build us more bundos today. About time, I say. The generator box was rutty and got cut to pieces during the unpacking; hence will make an excellent addition to the compost pile. No worries, though - we have plenty of other materials that will serve our bunstructing tendencies.

Another big item on the agenda is taking pics of the rescue buns our friend is fostering. They wait and wait for their forever homes like planes to Lisbon.

Oh, and just one more thing - have you any disapproval to spare? We could use some help.

We'll keep you posted,
- Gus

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus, "Smiling like the Queen, hoomin!"

Good Evening, Everybun!

It's been a quiet day here - so far. Our hoomin will huddle with us when things get too loud outside. We have cookies on hand and all the good stuff. Of course, we are still watching the storm heading our way. If nothing else, it's a good wake-up call and a rehearsal for the "real one." The generator is finally assembled - after sitting in a box for three years.

Have a safe and hoppy 4th! Take good care of all the ones with fur and feathers!

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Binky Free, Camilla, and Melvin

Camilla Melvin Camilla Melvin Camilla Melvin Camila
Good Evening, Everybun!
We would like to take a moment and extend our belated condolences to Mellissa for the passing of Camilla and Melvin several weeks ago. Time caught up with Camilla, and Melvin wasn't able to fight off an illness.
Like every difficult loss, it feels present, ongoing. And bun wishes to do something for them, to keep doing something for them because, in a way, they never leave. They were both rescues, and like all rescues, they kept saving and rescuing us, bunday at a time.
Melvin and Camilla lived far from La Florida, just about on a different planet, in Newfoundland. Yet we thought of them as old friends that lived next door. We can't remember when we first met - probably back when hay was first invented.
We miss Camilla and Melvin dearly, and we keep their hoomins in our thoughts. Thank you for sharing your time and space with us - the hearts you stole are yours forever.
- Charlie, Gus, Espresso, and our hoomins.
