The Bunday Evening Thumps

Charlie and Espresso
Espresso
Espresso

Good evening, Everybun!

The hoomin managed to stay out of our way, and we managed not to pee in his shoes. Of course, my boyfriend the Murderizer got his meds and all that, but that was the extent of the skirmishes.

We napped, our hoomin piddled with his color studies, and it rained quite a bit. We're watching three blobs in the Gulf and Atlantic at various stages of development.

And while we don't wish to conjure up M*nd*y prematurely, we are a bit eager to hear from the v. e. t. about the CT re-scan.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "Gus is right - you are a bum!"
Espresso, "I'm a BasilBun!
Gus, "Cookie shmookie - you're still a bum."

Hellos, Everybunny!

On Wednesday, Sneezer the Disapproving underwent his second CT scan and all went well. He was freaked out and off-kilter until the next morning but then returned to his usual disdainful self. No, we have not heard anything about the results yet. Hopefully, M*nd*y will bring some good news. But it's gonna be M*nd*y, so, you know - no reason to get too excited.

He is still getting 1.8 ml of Sulfatrim twice a day and Oflaxicin nose drops twice a day. There is no sneezing to report at the moment.

In other news, it's hot and muggy here, even at night. We're watching all the stormy blobs popping up over the Gulf and Atlantic. Things look swirly and busy out there.

At the moment, we're trying to pee and poop as much as we can before the hoomin starts choring - just because we can. We would rather have a nice, quiet day - but no, he's got ideas. So there - and we're looking right at him when we do it too - just because. I mean, he knows he should be arting or doing something else - so there!

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Charlie
Gus and Charlie
Gus

Good evening, Everybun!

The quiet stretch continues. I have no idea how everything turned out so purple and blue. It's just a luck of the click if you ask me.

Of course, underneath that calm facade, there's anxiety about Spresso's follow-up on Thumpday. Yes - everything will be fine, but it still gnaws at you.

My hoomin is swearing up and down that he won't stay up this week and will get some sleep, but that's a pipe dream. You don't stop grief-painting until the grief is done painting. Yes - a couple of small color studies are underway, and yes - we'll show you all the gory details when they're a little closer to completion.

And so the evening is still young; we need more head rubs and treats. I tell you what - the hoomin is such a sucker for treats late at night. I mean, we have to be well stocked for the night; it's like forever till the morning - especially since the nights are getting longer again!

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

Spressy regressed a little bit last M*nd*y, and we had to add the nose drop to our daily routine. He was having a horrible time with sneezing fits that day. By the time evening rolled around, the options were: run to the emergency doctor, start the drops again, or do nothing.

Doing nothing was really not an option - not if you heard him harumph.
Spressy has improved since then. The trouble is, we're not sure what's working—the oral antibiotic, the drops, or both.

The good news is that he has a follow-up at the BluePearl this upcoming Wednesday. He may also get a CT scan again. We don't know that for sure yet—the doctor will make the call on the day of the visit. Sigh.

So we're coping with it the best we can and just trying to hang in there for now. My hoomin turned into a zombie this week, staying up later than he should just to get a little bit of painting done each evening. Now we're all ready to hide and loaf.

What I mean to say is that WE get to hide and loaf, and the wicket gets to pick up my poops and such and then chore some more. Ha!

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso
Espresso - mineral bit on his left side of the nose.
Espresso - the snoot stone

Good evening, Everybun!

I told my hoomin yesterday afternoon he better go fetch our greens. He thought I didn't notice the skimping on thyme and overcompensating with sage. Thump!

He comes back and checks on me - then wants to play "Three Seconds." It means I gets a cookie, and he gets three seconds to take photos. I was all cookied-out, but I felt generous: "Haz your three seconds - I'm not moving." So, he snaps away.

Then he looks at my nose - because that's his Idée fixe, looking at my nose, checking for boogers. And he sees that little white speck above my left air intake, I mean nostril. He went to grab it, thinking, "Way too late for that sample; we already know what the bacteria is," and then his stupid jaw dropped.

It wasn't a booger - it was a piece of something very hard, like a grain of sand.

Well, he thought it was a miracle and wouldn't stop hootin' and hollerin'! Now, the mystery grain is sitting in a poly bag and waiting to go to the doctor. He's convinced this mineral grain got loosened but didn't come out during the rhinoscopy.

Things feel very different at the moment. I had a quiet night, no sneezes, and today keeps going just as great. Was this be the other stone dropping?

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus
Espresso
Espresso

Hellos, Everybun!

Sir Sneez-A-Lot is finally turning the corner. The lab confirmed Bordetella. Since Wednesday, he's been on 1.8 ml of Sulfatrim twice daily for two weeks.

Of course, Espresso listened in on the phone call with the V. E. T. but thought he heard "mortadella," or "portobello," or something "international" and became very upset. Cuss words were thrown at the hoomin, and indignant thumps shook the burrow.

It took a while for the new medication to kick in, but we finally got a mostly sneeze-free night last night.
My hoomin also set up an appointment for him with a new V. E. T. for July 13th.

So, there you have it. The week felt terribly long, and there's nothing on the agenda today except some extra loafing. And treats. We're indulging in homemade treats made from Sarx recovery food and appetite restorer with plenty of herb garnish. Since my hoomin was afraid of what the antibiotic might do to Espresso's appetite, the treats are something to keep him eating, so we all get to enjoy a little bit of them.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We almost had a sneezless night last night. Spressy had another short fit today. Sigh. We really don't know how this recovery is supposed to progress. In a few days, we'll hear something back from the doctor at BluePearl; my hoomin will set up an appointment with a new, "regular" V. E. T. We'll discover more.

Is the suspense killing us? Just about. Is he doing better? Yes.

Would any of this have happened if my hoomin had not gone to Bunefest this year? Maybe, maybe not. It was one of the doctors from the Veterinary Emergency Group at Bunfest who suggested the CT Scan.

At least we had broken through to this new territory.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, Friday night, "Dinner!?"
Espresso, Friday night, "Yep, still mad - you bum!"
Espresso, Wednesday night, "A cookie, eh!? Ya think that settles it!?"
Espresso, Wednesday night, "Hope you're hoppy, now leave me alone!"

Hellos, Everybunny!

The short of it is that everything went well enough. Last night, I had my first sneeze-free round of good sleep. Nobunny had to wake up because of my harumphing.

The last M*nd*y night before the procedure was extremely nerve-wracking. The only relief we got was knowing we'd made it this far. Tuesday morning was nothing but nervous energy and my hoomin trying to keep it together for dear life.

The doctors started working on me around one in the afternoon. If something had gone sideways, Dr. Gronsky would have been calling with an update, so no news was good news.

I survived the anesthesia. I survived the intubation, even though the team had a hard time with that.

They found the stone and flushed it out! The doctor said it was one of the best rhinoscopies she'd done.

I survived the post-op. Later, everybun decided it would be best for me to spend a romantic night at the hospital.

Late Wednesday morning, my hoomin picked me up and brought me home. Of course, I didn't feel like eating much or pooping, and Wednesday started to feel like a M*nd*y in a straight jacket. Around seven in the evening, I got a dose of Metoclopramide because we were afraid things were turning to worms. I almost ended up back at the hospital.

But, hoomin had enough sense to call buntie Susan first instead of panicking early. I ended up running some laps from the kitchen, past the Devil's Spicy Hay behind the oven to my room. Then I got some belleh rubs. I ran a couple more laps.

I dropped some gold in the bin at about nine-thirty or ten at night. I had some salaaad, and the cookie got it. It was a good night.

I'm still taking a mix of pain and anti-inflammatory medicine twice a day and getting nose drops twice a day. The stone and sample from my nose went to the lab, and we expect a follow-up call from the vet about the results.

I will probably get another CT scan (hopefully at a discount, as it would be part of the follow-up) to see if they got everything or if there's another, smaller stone farther back in the nasal passage.

But today, we're just going to chillax - tucks out and all. Even my hoomin has no plans except for some arting or reading. I'm eating and pooping, and I'm in pretty good spirits.

This thing was in the making for at least two years. My first round of nebulizing happened on June 26, 2022 (https://www.disapprovingbun.com/2022/06/the-bunday-evening-thumps_26.html).

We would like to thank the team at BluePearl for taking such good care of me: Sarah Gronsky, VMD, Koutney McNicholas, CVT, Tyler Doyle, APCA, and anybun who's name we're not aware of.

Thank you, everybun, for all your prayers and good vibes <3

We'll keep you posted!
