The rain finally got here! Yes, it's been raining a lot. And the cold front? "How about October or November?" said the cold front.
We'll settle for the clouds and the rain. 

My scribe declared that the morning cookie time is where it's at, and the only other time that comes close is the evening saaaaalad, cookies, and art time. And speaking of art time, the color study sat all week covered up with fabric we use for backgrounds. When we looked at the piece again today, we realized we're very close to being done. We need to add some highlights, clean up some rough spots, and add whiskers. Ya gotta have whiskers!

I had a quick follow-up visit with Dr. Teed at the Keystone Animal Hospital last Tuesday. Dr. Teed performed my surgeries last August. We were mainly concerned about that thumping divit on my belleh where the incisions were. It's holding steady; no reason to be worried at this time.
Can you believe we're coming up on nine months since the first surgery!?

And that's all the "exciting" stuff we have to report. It's gray and cloudy; Bun willing, we'll get some rain. And if the Bun is really, really willing, that cold front will get here. But honestly, the Bun ain't that willing, if you get my drift.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

The day began promising enough at five in the morning. It rained during the night, and the skies were still gray and heavy with clouds at dawn. The cold front finally broke through and caught up with our bones. The bones knew this was coming since yesterday.

The biped looked at me funny. He was up on the wrong side of something once more but kept trying to do the right thing and handed me another half a cookie.

"The bamboo in the backyard is ready for you, Capitan. You can kick it if you want, but it will kick you back," I said.

"Have you any more cookies, Capitan? You may as well keep them coming. And don't bother the bamboo," I said. The biped didn't even mumble. I prefer those one-way conversations to the normal ones. There's never anything good coming back. He kept the cookies coming, and we continued to hang in the balance. I kept one eye on Charlie and the cookie bowl and one eye on the biped. Was he going catatonic on me again?

"You know, you do have a lot of blue in that piece. Maybe the camera is not lying to you?" I said, trying a different subject. The biped attempted to scratch the top of my nose, but I moved back just enough so his hand missed me by a whisker. He thinks he can paint, but I draw the lines. This was one of them, and he knew that. He knew that very well and served us another handful of crunchies in the bowl.

"Maybe you should warm up parts of it? Don't you call it 'the color study,' Capitan? Then warm it up, and we'll study it together. Just you and I. We'll sit in front of it and study it." I said.

My bones were ready for the daytime nap, and I started to shift with great impatience. I wanted to make sure there would be more treats on the other side once I got up. "Look at those skies, Capitan! Go on and warm up the piece, and we'll philosophy about it," I said.

Everybunny's doing well. We're eating, pooping, drinking really well - in other words, we're doing our job. My hoomin on the other paw - well, he's ready to crash, take a nap, and start the day over. I get it - I start my day over a few times every day.

Of course, we got ours, so, yeah, start the day over. I need to bunstruct a wicker basket and a cardboard bundo, and the pee-pads ain't gonna chew themselves, right?

Chillaxing and loafing sure can take it out of ya. I have to nap most of the day, or I just can't keep up with that lifestyle.

On a serious note, everybunny here managed to relax a bit with the holidays finally behind us. Because the time between Xmas and Easter can feel like a long wait "for the other shoe to drop." And now, next stop: Halloween. I'm just saying - I'm ready. I've been ready since ...
Never mind that.

The latest color study for the latest in the "Disapproving Fifers" series is just about done. It happened this morning - my hoomin stepped back and realized that "we are there." I'm not sure who he means by "we" or where "there" is - the sorry sod always seems so lost. That said, the piece will go to its forever home next week after a minor cleanup.

It's been a quiet week in the burrow. We're doing well in all the departments. I mean Charlie and I. And the hoomins? The hoomins try to hoomin the best they can and we stay out of it.

Of course, we try to help whenever we can. I mean, we can't really help ourselves. You have to be quick when a piece ends up on the floor for whatever reason. We give it a quick look, a thump, a whiz if it deserves it.

In other news - no pun intended - the Summer seems to be here and that's not cool. Literally. 

So we'll try to chill and recharge. When the minimum chores are done and painting resumes, we'll be there - "assisting" and extorting.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We figured it's evening somewhere, so this will have to do for today. Today will get a little squirrely on, so I said, "Get the post done now; don't rush it later." Now, where are my "consulting cookies?" I thought you were supposed to give me what's mine, right?

There's no dramatic progress on the painting front this week - the canvas has been "resting," with my hoomin hoping to get a semblance of a fresh eye for it. Sure enough, this morning, he started cleaning up one of the bunns's eyes, and ear, and details like that. We'll have more painting time later, more "consulting cookies," and maybe something dramatically different to show next week. 

If all goes well, we'll start on my portrait very soon. The 26 x 26 in canvas is already here. Yes, if the dimensions seem suspiciously odd, it's because it's for one of those "special projects."

Hellos, Everybunny!

Charlie and I are doing. That's it - that's the exciting report. Yes, the world is on fire, but at least we're eating and pooping and doing our jobs.

Imagine the alternative - the world is on fire, and on top of that .... Well, my hoomin does, so he's grateful that we're hoping about. And the sod woke up ready for the weekend, which means I'll have to clean myself more than usual after all those extra head rubs.

Today, we are mostly in black and white due to no trickery of any kind. That's what the circumstances gave us. We hung out in Espresso's room, and the Sun was hitting us just right. Then you slip into a fantasy and can't wait to go to Rick's Cafe and wait for a plane to Lisbon. Again.

The plan for the weekend is just to keep on keeping on, art, loaf, study (good grief!), nap, and extort cookies. Always extort cookies!
