The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso as "Mr. Spressos"

Espresso Noir

Good Evening, Everybun!

Mr. Spressos sat at one end of the bench and Agent Hoomin slouched at the other.
“It’s only six feet if you stretch time and space, Agent Hoomin,” said Mr. Spressos without as much as glancing at the hoomin.
“So what do you know about “it”?” Mr. Hoomin asked impatiently.
“What “it”, Mr. Hoomin? The hurricane with no wind? The flood with no water? The Arctic without ice? Nothing that would help you, Mr. Hoomin,” said Mr. Spressos.

The hoomin watched the steam rise straight up from Mr. Spressos’ breath. After a long silence Mr. Spressos turned slightly toward the hoomin. “Don’t believe the things you hear about the wreckage from The Disapprovers. As a dark matter of fact, that was completely contained,” said Mr. Spressos with reproach and added, “Mistakes were made and the offenders perished; that was unavoidable, a small price to pay for certain insights.”
The hoomin sat up straight and shrieked, “What things?”
“Ahhhh, Mr. Hoomin, you keep trying to get closer. Well, we better get back to this “social distancing” stuff, don’t you agree?” smirked Mr. Espressos as he got up, pulled his overcoat tighter, and slowly hopped off into the cold of night.

Good luck and good night,
- Espresso

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus,"Six feet, hoomin! Oh, treats? Never mind then!"

Espresso, as Mr. Spressos after reading a headline too far.

Greetings, Everybun!

These days, both hoomins here work from home. So far, both are respectful of bun another and blink very quietly. And it's nice to get treats and headrubs in the middle of the day! Yeah, I'll get up from my nap for that!

The hoomins don't go out anymore, though, except for the bare necessities. One goes running and walking - that's still allowed. He says the streets are pretty empty, and any people that are out are very courteous.

Going to get the bunn greens and groceries (in that order!) is nerve-wracking. Every outing feels apocalyptic. No matter how careful bun plans the EBA, it feels like bun is playing the odds. Thump!

The good news is, the cawwot starters are growing nicely. Here's a pic of one, and there are three more. This one should be very to go into the dirt tomorrow or the day after that.

We'll keep you posted,
- Gus

The cawwot starter.

Saturday, Sprocket, and Sprout

Nah, nah, nah, nah; you can't do that, hoomin!

- Thank you, Brambley Hedge Rabbit Rescue and Erika!

PS: A little bit about Saturday, Sprocket and Sprout,

BORN: 2014
BREED: Satin
COLOR: Dark and lighter shades of gray
GENDER: Saturday (mom), Sprout (female) and Sprocket (male)
LITTER BOX HABITS: Need work
NOTES: Saturday and her sister Sunday came to BHRR in 2014. Two days after arrival, Saturday birthed two babies…Sprout and Sprocket. They went into foster care where they grew like weeds and bloomed. Rarely have we ever seen three more beautifully devoted bunnies than this mom and her two kids. Saturday, Sprout and Sprocket are always together…whether eating, sleeping, playing or just relaxing. They are outgoing, playful and wonderfully curious and with the right family who will work with them on their litterbox habits, they will light up your life for many, many years. Their favorite thing is when a volunteers lays down with them because in their eyes people are jungle gyms and meant for climbing on. Wouldn’t you love these three to be climbing all over you?

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso as Mr. Spressos, "What's it gonna be, hoomin? Six feet away or under?"

Charlie, "Haven't seen Mr. Spressos in hours! Honest ;-)"
Good Evening, Everybun!

We don't understand this "work from home nonsense. Our hoomin is at the house all the time, but the head rubs don't go all the time.

On Wednesday, he got both crowns glued back in place - the new, replacement one and the old. He tried to see Mr. Spresso and share the good news, but Mr. Spressos didn't show up at the usual spot. The bench under the light in the park was empty. Well, OK, Espresso didn't feel like working another Sunday post. He's "self-isolating" in his bundo, but then again, that's what he always does. He isolated before it was a thing.

Yesterday, my hoomin did a short practice flight to keep up with he recency requirement at the flight school and took some pics on the scenic way to the practice area. He kept is as clean as possible. The controls, levers, and knobs in the aircraft got the treatment with a Clorox wipe. He sanitized his paws incessantly and didn't share any paws.

Now he's got the flyers remorse over it. But on the other paw, he stopped at a store on the way home to get our weekly veg supply. Arrrgh! Thump! Will it ever be possible to cool it all down to near absolute zero?

Good night and good luck,
- Charlie

Extreme social distancing, leaving hoominity 2,500 below. (Madeira Beach)

Fort DeSoto park, usually it would be packed, but yesterday there was "Nobuny on the road, Nobuny on the beach. I feel it in the air" ;-)
... but every boat was out. How do they not run into each other is a mystery.

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "Can't stand the news and can't stay away from the news. Thump!"

Greetings, Everybunny!

Our hoomin started working from home last Wednesday. This is really making these scary times real. Before, everything seemed to happen " in the news," somewhere out there far from home. Now, Angie is sawing face masks.

Living in Florida forces bun to come to terms with the forces of nature that are out of bun's control. So we're thinking a lot about all of you.

In the meantime, we'll do our best to overbun. My hoomin said the best thing about working from home is taking lunch breaks with us. He goes and stretches out in the "Spresso room" and listens to Mr. Srpessos nom hay or pellets.

And since the BunFest is canceled for this year, living with three buns is like a mini-bunfest every day.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso as "Mr. Spressos"

Espresso, "I think the black and white levels the viewing field."

Good Evening, Everybunn!

The hoomin walked into his room and went blind from an intense, narrow beam of light. He instinctively tried to shield his eyes with the palm of his hand and hoped to see the assailer. The light beam wondered about the hoomin's face and came to rest focused on one particular spot of the hoomin's mug.

"Oh, that's hideous, Mr. Hoomin!" said a voice, presumably of whoever was shinning the light. Then, the hoomin recognized the intruder - it had to be Mr. Spressos.

The hoomin made a motion with his mouf trying to say something and stopped. He was too tired, too tired to speak without hissing when all he could do is hiss. He wanted to scream. When the hoomin's temporary crown refused to stay in place the other day, he gave up. He got used to the gap in his mouf, feeling the little stump where a proper toof used to be.

"Yeah, that looks like a baby incisor coming in, Mr. Hoomin. You know, there was an error in the glue formula," Mr. Spressos' voice trailed off. The Hoomin nodded eagerly.

"It was not unicorn spittle you needed. It was dragon phlegm. Of course, I couldn't tell you that back then. I hope you understand how risky it would have been if such information got out." said Mr. Spressos. The hoomin tried to lunge toward the light, but the beam wiggled left to right across the hoomin's face stopping him dead cold.

"Now, now, Agent Hoomin! There's no need for that. You wouldn't ignore your social distancing obligations, would you?" said Mr. Spressos soothingly.

The hoomin became still again and tried to say something and gave up.
"I know, Mr. Hoomin; you lost another crown last week. You just can't catch a break, can you? I don't have to tell you how sorry I am," Mr. Sressos went on reading the hoomin's mind. The poor hoomin just tilted his head to the side, wondering how Spressos knew about the second crown popping off.

"Turn around, Mr. Hoomin, go stand in the corner and face the wall," ordered Mr. Spressos. The dejected hoomin obeyed.
"Mr. Hoomin, try that dragon phlegm. And next time, try to ask the Mrs. to chew your onion sandwich for you!" said Mr. Spressos as he left the room, shutting the door and leaving the hoomin in the dark.

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

The Charlie bunn-nado ;-)
Charlie, "I think I like myself as the black and white muse with all the grays in between."

Greetings, Everybunny!

My hoomin found the grooming brushes and tortured me all morning. He managed to brush out a good clump of fuzz and all. So I had to fluff myself all over to undo that nonsense.

Unfortunately, that's as exciting as things can get around here - at least for now. With everything shutting down, the local rescues are staying put as well. We have no idea when any of them will have another meet-and-greet.

We're thinking about all of our bunn and hoomin friends out there. Wash your paws and play it cool. Especially you, Mr. Rabbits Guy. You're close to where a lot of the action is these days.

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good Evening, Everybunn!

In the middle of a night,  in a park, on a bench under a light, Mr. Spressos sat waiting. He didn't move when the hoomin sat next to him. Steam rose from their breaths as they sat in silence for a moment.
"You lied to me; again! There wath nothing in that envelope!" yelled the exasperated hoomin hissingly.

Mr. Spressos stiffened in a panic and jerked his head to look at the hoomin. He expected the hoomin to show up and eventually say something, even expected him to be upset. But he didn't expect this. Tight as a piano string, Mr. Spressos turned his head slowly and leaned in close to the hoomin for a better look. Mr. Spressos' eye was bulging out in disbelieve.

"Whath... what'th the matter wif you? Why are you thtaring at me like thaf?" mumbled the hoomin.

Mr. Spressos relaxed. It was only the hoomin hissing. For a second, Mr. Spressos's ears warned him against a serpent, a spy slayer of some kind, or maybe a gimpy dragon with a complicated past. But no, this was his hoomin contact.

"Why are you hissing, Mr. Hoomin?" Mr. Espressos asked slowly.
"Whaf? Whaf are you falking abouf?" tried to ask the hoomin, completely thrown off his game.

"Why are you hissing? Oh, wait, where's your toof, Mr. Hoomin?" asked Mr. Spressos as he relaxed some more.

"My crown came off, OK?! The femp crown if nof faying on, OK?!" quivered the hoomin struggling to speak.

"Wrong glue, you were using the wrong glue, Mr. Hoomin. And I'm sorry about the empty envelope, but the void, space, that was the real gift - you have to admit, Mr. Hoomin. Whatever you expected to find there was so much better than anything I could have stuffed in there," said Mr. Spressos.

They sat in silence for a moment before the dejected hoomin got up to leave.
"Wait, Mr. Hoomin. Get a big toenail from a gargoyle, a pinch of disdainium sulfate, and some unicorn spittle. Mix it up and use a dab of it to glue your crown back in place.  It'll be stronger than a cold-welded Inconel," said Mr. Spressos with a straight mouf.

"Fankth, fankth a lof," quipped Mr. Hoomin derisively as he slowly disappeared into the night.

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "When in black and white, I feel like I need ... I need my own radio show. Maybe, "Bun Noir"?
Charlie, "Ya feel better, eh? What happened to the strawberrinis to celebrate, eh? Thump!"
Espresso, "Funny, how black and white makes me look so artsy ;-)"

Greetings, Everybunny!

I guess my hoomin feels much, much better if I go by the amount of head rubs I got this week. He said something about how nice it is to have a weekend without any cold symptoms finally. One of my hoomins wonders if they didn't have "the thing"? How would bun know? It took solid two weeks to come out of the nastiest "colds" they remember.

My hoomin feels so much better; he read me all about lift again. He said he finally feel the light at the end of the tunnel.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good Evening, Everybunny!

And just like that - poof! February is all gone! I say, get you booplesnoot in the last of the winter sun if you can. We had a lovely, beautiful, chili weekend, perfect for chilling. My hoomin said he's mostly out of his nasty cold, and it very nice to be mostly "with it" again.

I think I'll leave it at that. I'll even let my hoomin be - for now.

We'll keep you posted,
