Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

We're enjoying a nice stretch of everybunny doing really well. I'm not sneezing; Charlie is eating, pooping, and bossing everybun around. And my hoomin is adjusting to not making salaaads for Gus and Charlie. Buntie Susan was right - Gus and Charlie are drinking more water - their water bowl has to be refilled much more often now!

So, we're slowly catching our breaths after last week. Now the plan is to enjoy the cold front that just got here, have more treats, do some arting, loafing around, and pose for a pic or two - if the snacks are right.

We'll keep you posted!

Hoppy Thanksgiving

Hellos, Everybunny!

Just a quick update to wish everybun a hoppy and safe holiday.
On M*nd*y, the v. e. t. at Avian and Animal Hospital discovered that  Charlie has what looks like a small hernia in the making in the lower part of her abdomen, close to where she was spayed. That was one suspected cause of her intermittent bouts of stasis.

Tuesday,  buntie Susan took Charlie to see Dr. Teed at Keystone Animal Hospital in Bradenton. Dr. Teed took an x-ray and discovered that Charlie might be passing a kidney stone or at least some crystals. And that's the best candidate for explaining that intermittent stasis. However, Dr. Teed was not concerned about that 2 cm possible hernia spot and did not recommend another surgery. At least not right away, considering Charlie struggled to recover from the last one.

So, we're monitoring  Charlie very closely, giving stronger pain medicine to facilitate easier passage of the stones. She's doing very well at the moment, has a good appetite, and is very active.

But now our salaaad days are pretty much over. Espresso, the murderizing, can haz greens. Charlie and I will have to make do with homemade treats from recovery food. Of course, there are bunnana slices and blueberries in them, but still.

My hoomin is trying to process all that. At this point, we're grateful just to have days and days with Charlie. And days with yours truly, and even with the murderizer.

Hugs to everybun out there, and we'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

Charlie bounced back to her usual self and behaved as if nothing ever happened. We're keeping an eye on her, of course, and we're keeping tomorrow's V. E. T. appointment.

We woke up to a power outage, and pretty soon, my hoomin started going out of his bun-loving mind. He mumbled something about "Putting more coal in the stove to warm up the place." Then something about going to "See grandma in the afternoon, on such a bright, sunny day." It's a good thing it didn't snow, or he would think it's X-mas or something.

Is it time to call the V. E. T. on him and make certain arrangements? They'll do it, you know - just dial the number and listen to the prompts.

This being the first cold weekend of the season, things feel even more surreal. This cold front arrived so late in the season that it made it feel like Halloween was just around the corner. And it is - only around the wrong corner.

And for something completely different - my V. E. T. visit last Tuesday went very well. I got a pawdicure, ear cleaning, and a thorough exam. Per my physician's recommendation, we got a bottle of "Physician's Choice" eyewash. We'll use that instead of saline solution, as saline has the potential to crystalize. And we got enough crystals in my nose. Once a week, I'll get a few drops in each eye and nostril, and we'll see how things go. Aside from that - I'm doing great.

And my loafer is manded. He actually did it - he finished it this morning.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

The weekend is off to a difficult start. My hoomin is losing his mind because Charlie didn't show up for the morning cookie grazing. Instead, she was hiding in the bundo and showed no desire for anything but hiding. She seemed completely fine last night and showed absolutely no sign of distress.

The meds came out, and she got breakfast via the syringe. She's back to hiding. Vets are not available except for emergency clinics.

This is the time of the day when we usually "hibernate" until later in the afternoon, so it feels even more eerie. She was off on M*nd*y evening as well, but recovered by Tuesday morning. So we're worried.

We'll give ourselves until later in the afternoon before going to the ER. So, yes, we could use some good vibes right now.

UPDATE: We got some decent looking pellets from Charlie and she's demanding her favorite crunchies. Of course, we're keeping the M*nd*y appointment.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

A quiet weekend. A funny thing about Spressy's sneezing fits - after my hoomin mentioned how well the guy was doing, Spressy proceeded to have a decent fit around Saturday midnight. He got saline. He didn't sneeze today.

My hoomin tried to art and started another small color study. The one above is Wyatt and Wynnona. The final piece will be about 30 x 40 or 36 x 48. We may do another study for it, perhaps a digital one to save time.

Another project that's underway is mending one of our loafers. It's an ugly job. We'll have gory details later.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

It's been a quiet week in the burrow. Everybunny's eating, pooping,  waiting. The usual. I'm doing pretty well with my sneezes - have not had a "proper" sneezing fit in a long time. When my hoomin hears a suspicious noise from my nose, I get the saline drops - and that's it. I have a checkup with Dr. Z this Thursday - just in case.

Aside from that, I've been trying to restart my hoomin. His brainburator must be clogged up with bun know what kinda hallucinations. But the old sod is out of warranty, so I can't just run out to Biped Supplies and exchange it for a new one, if you know what I  mean. I say, "Sniff some linseed oil - it's like a brainburator cleaner for you - maybe it will help?" but he keeps whining that's too much work, and it's easier to work with acrylics and what now.

He says he'll start one more color study, and then we'll get on with the big pieces.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso
Gus and Charlie
Espresso, fountain pen.

Good evening, Everybun!

It's been a quiet day and weekend. Not quiet enough, if you ask me. But what do I know? I think we look better in the old-timey black and white. Color can be such a strong distraction, whipping up stuff at the least opportune time. But grayscales get through to the lizard brain faster, are more forgiving, and really let the light shine through.

We're eating and pooping, and that's our plan. Did I mention that Charlie and Gus got their vaccine boosters yesterday? They did. I'm still waiting my turn because I had a slight fever last time.

For now, we're enjoying the extra days we have with Charlie and with bun another.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

gus
Gus, "What!? What - did I break the Seventh Seal or something!?"
gus
Charlie, "Right - something, something about a plane to Lisbon. I'd caption this if I had any words, but - I'm out of words."

gus
Espresso, "Nothing to see here - just slowing down to maneuvering speed - look it up."

gus
Charlie, "The belleh of the bun - everything healed well - the staples came out OK."

Hellos, Everybun!

The good news is Charlie's staples are out - everything healed, and Dr. Teed saw no spots that gave him any concern. Here's to the old "Third time is the charm."

We're trying to manage Espresso's sneezes with pure saline drops. When he has a "pre-sneeze" - something that sounds like a "sneeze," but you're not sure it is a sneeze - he gets a couple of saline drops in each nostril.

Overall, he's doing much better than he was at the beginning of the year, so we're cautiously optimistic that the good streak will continue.

And the rest? Maybe we'll forego the diatribe today. I mean, would it help?

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We're trying to chillax and decompress. Espresso came to visit in the morning but got too restless, started ripping up everything but Gus, and had to go back to his place. We're all restless, I guess. The surgeries, the hurricanes, and the footnotes in history we're living through all get a bit overstimulating. Now, another tropical blob is fixin' to become something next week. We're supposed to get rain.

I can't wait for Friday - when my staples are coming out. Oh, yes, didn't I tell you? That's right - I got sewn up on the inside and got nice, "Tim Burton Edtion," metal stable on the outside. This time it will all hold together, right? Right!?

Goodnight and good luck!
- Charlie
