The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybunny!
And so we're having a bunderful day of loafing and chillaxing. Nothing is shattering about a day of loafing and goofing off, but it can be a little bit like Xmas if you pay attention to it.

We took a little bit of pity on our hoomin and let him hang out with us. Even after he nebulized me last night. Yeah, sure, the V. E. T. told him to. "He was just following orders," - my foot.

Good night, and good luck!
- Espresso

PS: We took a stab at the Spanish Needle for the "Graham Cracker and Mel" painting. I said, "We," because Charlie and I didn't jump all over the "model," and we let him get the sketches done first.

The only trouble is that we have not gotten much rain lately, and the Spanish Needle crop is pitiful. And very few plants are blooming. So, we will have to have a "Spanish Needle watch" to catch them when they flower. I'm afraid we'll have to take some reference photos to work with - just in case.

And guess what - Spanish Needle does not like to hold the pose. You open the window blinds, and if there's any sunlight to be had, the plants will start turning toward the light.

Espresso, "Yours truly trying to nap, but the graphite on paper just won't let up."
Espresso, "The latest thing to kick my hoomin's butt - Spanish Needle - he he he!"

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "My afternoon resting cloud face."
Espresso, "You wants a break? Oh, I thought you wanted me to break something."

Hellos, Everybunny!

We are so glad this days-long m*nd*y finally came to a close. The good news is we're doing well. I'm off the eye drops, but my sneezes want to return. Thump! We had a call with the V. E.T. this morning, and we're waiting for a callback.

My hoomin got to learn new words and phrases this week. Things like "neoplasm" or "JAK2 mutation." Fun stuff. We're still trying to figure out what's happening and somehow come to grips with it. Of course, the chips refuse to be down and instead float around like a debris field in space. It's hard to discern this "new normal" for all the fear and confusion. It's like a thick layer of clouds, but you can't tell how thick that layer is. Is there a silver lining to it? What if that layer goes all the way to the ground?

So, my hoomin had to get more blood work done, and the good news is the doctor didn't call. At least Sawbones didn't see anything of immediate concern.

Today we'll pivot to art. We'll loaf and nap, maybe study a little and then do more art.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus, "There are not enough colors for me, are there?"
Espresso, "Eat your heart out, hoomin - the loafer is just right!"
Espresso, "Yes, living the bunn life."
"Graham Cracker and Mel" - the bunnana rig.
"Graham Cracker and Mel" - the bunnana, the rig, the study, the color study.
"Graham Cracker and Mel" - bunnana study.
"Graham Cracker and Mel" - at least the bunnanas are fixable now.

Good evening, Everybun!

Today was our first quiet day off without anything crazy going on. I swear - tomorrow, my hoomin will be ready for the weekend. But that's how the dandelion sprouts.

We're still puzzled by Espresso's sneezing. As long as he receives the eye drops - the sneezing goes away. Sigh. And a thump!

In other news, we finally got some rain last night and this morning. What happened to those afternoon thunderstorms and showers that used to pop up like clockwork? The weather was all the rage during conversations at the life drawing session yesterday morning. But that's artists for ya - they pay attention to things like that.

Good night, and good luck!
- Gus

PS: Speaking of arting, my hoomin made good on his promise to attack the bunnanas with gusto. He made a little rig to hold the bunnana in space in just about any position. If nothing else, now we're certain we'll be able to fake the bunnanas if we have to. Who knew working with bunnanas could be so demanding and so much fun!?

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "Nope, no sir, you can't see me!"
Charlie, "Yes, of course, there will be consequences, you silly sod!"
Charlie, "And what about my resting bunn face?"
Charlie, "Oh, yes, sure, the V. E. T. is always so much fun, you dolt!"
Espresso, "And you still can't see me, can you!?"

Hellos, Everybunny!

It's been one whacky week around here. My hoomin had to see his doctor for a follow-up; yesterday, Espresso had to follow up with the V. E. T. for sneezing, and I thumbed my nose at cookies. Yes, I made the hoomin soil his trousers, so I got a ride to the V. E. T. too. So, we are ready for an R and R, loafing and general decompression.

My hoomin promised to unwind and detox his head from tar pit fumes; hence there will be arting, loafing, and some study time. He's going to one of the open studio life drawing sessions he used to attend a life long, long ago. It will be like going back home - we'll find out if bun can.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus, "The peace and quiet, your absence, were all appreciated."
Charlie, "That's 'Miss Cumulodisapprovous' to you, hoomin!"
Espresso, "So - you're back, baby, or what!?"

Good evening, Everybunny!

My hoomin disappeared over the weekend, and I haven't seen much of him. I heard it was a three-day-long life drawing workshop. But there were no buns to draw - only naked hoomins, so what's the point!?

Of course, Charlie said she demands an equal about of time in front of the pager. Preferably when she's snoozing, so she wouldn't have to watch the hoomin humiliate himself again.

All kidding aside, the workshop was a lifesaver. It was like going to the ICU for the soul. You know, that little thing that screams at the tarpits, drowning in tar but refusing to die.

The last time my hoomin attended a life drawing session was twenty-five years ago - what a different world that used to be.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "I swear I heard you want a day off or something."
Espresso, "Yes, it's my resting bun face."
Charlie, "You're up and about, then the salads better be up and about to be served!"

Greetings, Everybunny!

"Never Panic Early" sounds like a commandment every bunstronaut would have committed to their bone marrow. It comes from a hoomin that's been around the moon and back. It's also the title of Fred Haise's autobiography, published in April of 2022. Yes, that Fred Haise, the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 13 fame. Fred learned a thing or two about not panicking, starting with a near miss when he was a child, then through the Apollo 13 saga, and later through his struggle to recover from burn injuries.

The book sings to your inner bunlet about the skies, airplanes, and stars, just what the doctor ordered for a summer read. The grownup enjoys the generosity and wisdom of Fred's tales.

If you're tempted to dismiss the book for its title, hang around for the stories. The title will play tricks on you, stay with you, and serve you well when you least expect it.

The magic of Never Panic Early lies in how Fred gives away the shop in the title, and just for that, he deserves our respect, appreciation, and reverence for his narratives.

Now imagine you're my hoomin, and life throws you a little curveball.

You get a frantic call from your doctor telling you to go to the ER because your spleen has blood clots. Guess what? You never panic early.

The nurse preps you for an IV; you're worried because you syncopated ten years ago. So you figure out what to tell yourself, and...you never panic early. Take a deep breath, look away, and tell yourself whatever story you need to get you through this moment.

The doctor tells you the clots are COVID-related, something you read about, but the doc wants to do an MRI and rule out any malignancies...just in case. Well, you know the drill: never.... That's right.

Then, the blood thinner drips into you for two days. Nurses draw your blood every six hours. You're sleepy and cranky yet grateful you're not as bad as the guy beside you. And you never ...

Or when "Stabitha from the lab" came to draw a sample and used the needle like a shiv, sucking blood right from the meat in your forearm. Maybe she had a bad day, but you never ...

Finally, they let you out, and you're glad to be back with every bunny. Salads are to be made and cookies dispensed.

There's relief in knowing that the other COVID shoe dropped, even if it took six months. You try to recalibrate for the new normal of follow-up care, and you never panic early.

We'll keep you posted!
– Espresso

PS: My hoomin is convinced there must be an artisan blood sausage and headcheese factory run by vampires in the hospital's bowels. I told him to bring some garlic next time – just in case.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso, "I dunno, you disappeared like for two days, and you think we're friends again?"
Gus, "Oh, quit whining now. Bring more cookies - stat!"
Charlie, "No headrubs for 48 hours. No headrubs. I'm not sure I can get over that."

Good evening, Everybunny!

It's been a loafy and quiet day around here. Our services are slowly returning to normal; my hoomin is brooding and not over a painting. There's a lot to process, and the stench of m*nd*y is seeping through what's left of the weekend.

Of course, it could have been so much worse, so we're just glad.

Good night, and good luck!
- Espresso

PS: The hospital stay provided a lot of good material, and we'll tell you all about it. But first, the shock of all needs to simmer down a bit more.

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus, "Wow, karma got you good, hoomin, wow! Yeah - that's good, that's good!"
Charlie, "They didn't give you a bum baf, hoomin? That's too bad."
Espresso, "So, how many drops dropped from the iv, hoomin? Did you count? Or are you not the kind that counts?"

Greetings, Everybunny!

The short week got weirder and - I can't tell if it got shorter or longer for my hoomin? He ended up going to the ER on Thursday, got admitted to a hospital, and didn't get out until today. So is that a "vacation" time because he's not at the tar pits? Or is it something else? Or what is it? I mean, the guy had no choice but to loaf and count the drops of the blood thinner go in. Good.

I don't know - am I supposed to feel sorry for him?
Neh.

In other lousy news, my buddy, the great murderist, Spressy, already had a couple of sneezing fits on Thursday. Thump!

So that's the kinda week we had around here. Besides that, we're well - eating, pooping, and disapproving.

We'll keep you posted!
- Gus
