We're finishing prep to ride out the hurricane. Yep, it's that time of the year again. The storm is swirling in the Gulf, and the anxiety is swirling in my hoomin. And here we were, worried about Wednesday's consult at the Moffit Cancer Center. Now, we're expecting a hurricane to be around here somewhere.

The thing was on a track to punch La Florida in the armpit this morning. Now, the projected path is starting to inch further and further south.

But, we had test-fired the generator, and we'll try to preserve some sense of sanity. We did a bit of arting, and maybe we'll do some more tonight.

In other news, we're watching all those weather gremlins brewing in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf. Yes, this the Season you want to get through as fast as you can - but then you're wishing time away - a serious bummer either way.

Yes, we're watching the red blob, and we expect it to have a name or a number and track by tomorrow. Sigh.

And what about just living in today, you ask? Head rubs and arting - that's all we want. OK, we want some Spanish Needle, too. My hoomin can paint it all he wants, but then - you know - nom, nom!

We had a pretty loafsome weekend, and the evening is still young. I took pity on my hoomin this morning and let him massage my back and the top of my head for I don't know how long. So I threw him a little treat of a pose. Maybe a minute or two at the most, but bunn, you thought he won the lotto or something.

And then I disappeared for the rest of the day. Espresso took over from there.

My hoomin went to work on the color study and thought he could leave a small water container on the floor. He thoughts he could leave and make the greens run, and everything would be OK.

He was wrong.

Good evening, Everybun!

The salads are served. Chores are done. The par pits and worries about the hemogoblins are banished for the night. My hoomin sets up Spanish Needle in a little jar with water and sets up his drawing board.

The evening is so quiet you can hear Gus Charlie in the next room crushing their salads. You can even tell if Gus is working on the Romain, having a sprig of Mint, or smacking his lips, slurping up a Raspberry.

We've been waiting for this all day. My hoomin puts on an audiobook - I flop and stretch, still chewing the last bite of snackers. The night is kind to us.

I wait for the pen and a stick of white pastel to finish their binkis on the paper. They get put away finally - and the Spanish Needle comes to me.

Everybun is doing well. I hear that Espresso's sneezing is under control. He still gets the baby Claritin, but that's about it. Of course, the medicine is stuffed in a blueberry - the chiseler wouldn't have it any other way.

My hoomin had a follow-up with his V. E. T. this week, and no bad news came out of it. The anxiety level is dropping. He'll have another follow-up in a few months, including another CT scan.

Are we out of the woods with all this? Not exactly, but mostly we just don't know. He will go see a cancer specialist - just in case. We would like to know what his hemagoblin is really up to? Or is it a hemogorgen? See? We don't know. Will this thing keep throwing up more and more extra blood cells, or will it kinda level off?

I think the real question is how long will it take for the acceptance of all this turmoil to settle in? There may never be a steady "normal," only flux.

In the meantime, we cookie frenzy and we art.

My hoomin woke up today ready for the weekend. Whaaaaa? Maybe it's the blood thinner talking. It beats suffocating with lungs half full of despondency. It took a month. 

In other news, I was the unfortunate recipient of an attempted ground lesson. On my end, it took a plate of crunchy pellets to get through it. In fifty minutes, we barely covered eight pages of notes on aircraft systems. He, he!
My hoomin yammered on and on and went,
"Chomp, chomp, nom, chomp, crunch.
Aha. Chomp, nom, chomp, chomp."

Yeah, it was a very yammeh lesson, but he's still brooding about it.

And what about the rest of the warren? We're doing well. Knock on wood - Spressy's sneezing seems to be under control - for now.
