The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

Well, well, well - a fresh batch of smack hay just got served! Oh, yes, we're doing well. Charlie is in the haybin, digging, noming, and foraging. Yeah, we're OK.

Now the important stuff. Do you have any recipes for smack hay? Here's what we've got:

  1. A base layer of oxbow timothy hay.
  2. A medley of oat hay and orchard grass on top.
  3. Very to extremely liberal sprinkling of:
  4. Mint Flakes
  5. Oregano Flakes
  6. Thyme
  7. Parsley Flakes
  8. Belinda's Blend
  9. Herbal Blend
  10. Young at Heart Blend
  11. All gently shaken so the toppings mix with the hay.

Talk about your nose going crazy!

Tonight we'll art and help the biped finish his big sketch pad. There are two sheets of paper left in it, and they are Charlie's. Maybe we'll start a little itsy-bitsy canvas for some experimental stuff.

And we're keeping our paws crossed for that bladder expression appointment tomorrow.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

I'm celebrating the 2nd anniversary of my bladder surgery. It may as well be a birthday.

I'm doing well, doing bunny things, loafing, stretching, disapproving, jonesing for treats. Of course it's a little hard to make one particular day special when the hoomin tries to make every day a Bunsmas, or a Bunsgiving, or Bunoween. And sure as thump I wouldn't be here without Dr. Zellner and Dr. Teed.

So, here's to good cheer and a bunderful good old day in the making! Thank you, Everybunny <3

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus and Charlie the-bunday-evening-thumps-26-08-09-DSC_2574
A good old minute in three acts: "Disapprove, Nome, Nap."

Good evening, Everybun!

The hoomin thought he could get all chummy with us this morning. We've tried to tolerate him; we really did, but come on, bun! The head rubs were good but not that good.

We're doing well otherwise.

Charlie keeps on tossing the water bowls.

The blobs - there are two - will run into some pretty nasty wind shear and the Saharan dust.

We're making our hoomin clean OUR art room again - he deserves it.
Charlie's second anniversary of her bladder stone removal surgery is coming up.

We are so grateful for every moment we have with her, and for some reason we are on edge at the same time. What sort of cake should we prep for that occasion? What sorta art should we make?

And you're right, of course - we'll sleep on it.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus gus-charlie-espresso-update-26-08-08-DSC_2576_2
Gus, "this one will get painted, eh?"

Hellos, Everybunny!

The day feels eerily quiet and slow. We're doing well and have no surprises to report. Charlie's appointment went well, and the doctor had nothing to report either. Charlie is mostly tucks-out. At least her gizzard is doing really well.

For my hoomin, it's been one of those weeks Bun wants to forget, though. The good news is, we are here; we have a good old day on our paws and Bun willing, we should have a good night of arting.

We did pretty last evening too. There were treats, and snackers, head rubs, loafing and a bit of arting.

And for something completely different, reports are popping up this morning about something, maybe, nobunny knows, stuff brewing in the eastern Atlantic. I think we're going to sleep on it for now.

Now we turn a few degrees again. Charlie's been tossing the water bowls the last few days. What gives? Not enough, too much, or the wrong kinda gin the hoomin's been using!? Is another flogging in order?

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We are finally getting some rain! The rainy and groovy day really makes it easy to catch up on the zees. Which is good, because it keeps me from diving into the Sicience mag, looking for endigtments of humanity. But I digress.

Charlie is doing well, and we welcome the relief since that GI issue a couple of weeks back. Today, she's been attacking the hay bowl with verve and gusto.

Yes, we arted a little bit last night. Bun always hopes for more, but life is what it is and doesn't always cooperate. We're still grateful for all those good old minutes we got.

Bun willing, we'll try to have a better art night tonight with treats and all the trimmings.

Oh, thump, what's the point!? I've been digesting another article for weeks now. I was just hoping that it would go away if I ignored it. Instead, a little emotional gas bubble is growing, and I'll have to let it out eventually. Maybe next time.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Bun morning, Everybun!

Thump on wood - we have nothing to report. Charlie's M*nd*y expression went well, and Dr. Zellner didn't raise any concerns.

The Ten Days of Sulfa Twice A Day Wrestling Festival ended Wednesday night, and Charlie is very hoppy about that.

I think the hoomin is finally getting used to this "not over-vegging" routine. We still get that sprig of mint when Charlie gets her daily meds, but that's about it.

And we enjoy our safe-from-meds-and-stuff space time in the evening. Extra treats? Yes! Headrubs? Absolutely! Tolerating my hoomin's arting antics? Sigh, I mean, what are we supposed to do with the sorry biped!? Do you have any idea what the farms in the up-state go for now!?

OK, never mind the good old days; first come the good old minutes.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We're doing well. The little streak of those "good old days" keeps on rolling.

Last night, we helped my hoomin wear down a few pencils a little more, and we plan a repeat tonight.

But for now we're staying out of each other's way.
We're still trying to catch up on sleep after last week. I know my hoomin is still shook. There's still some soul searching going on. He needs a new ritual, something to worship up in the morning that does not involve cilantro and such.

Our evenings are fine, but the getting up first thing in the morning without something grand for us haunts him.

Of course, I don't know if we care. And we won't tell.

What we can agree on is that a healthy gut and humming gizzard are priceless.

Good night and good luck!
- Gus

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

Last Sunday Night

The soft poops are really bad. I get a bum baf and blow dry to "pure fluff." I'm patient, but have to listen to "dur, dur, dur, Mr. Bun, dur, dur, something, something, dur, dur, Mr. Bun."
The hoomin has to do a deep clean of where I hid all day. The good news is the soft poops are finally abating.

M*nd*y

We get an early appointment window at Avian for a full visit this time. Buntie Susan comes to the rescue with a ride to the clinic. We workshop posts for the remainder of the week.

Dr. Zellner works her magic on my gut and breaks up the gas cloud in my gizzard - things are starting to move now. She loosens up and moves the bladder store away from the "outflow valve," and I express myself easily.

I hear something about another ten days of Trimeth/Sulfa.

In the evening I'm finally gifting some proper poop, and I'm caught loafing tucks-out. The hoomin just loses it from excitement. I'm the Sistine Chapel, the agony and ecstasy.

We stay up late, but don't art tonight. Nobunny can see straight anymore, and my hoomin is struggling with my meds. He tries to give  Hydro and Citrate, but both syringes are empty. Or so the things. By the time he goes to the kitchen and starts to draw the meds, he can't tell if I got them already or not.

I get a final belleh massage for the night, and we all bolt to get away bun another.

Tuesday

This has been a week. I feel a lot better though. After my daily fluids, I don't hide anymore. So, all the meds for the first part of the day are done. When the daytime nap hibernation commences, we all thump the sigh of relief. The homin won't bug me till the evening, unless I telepathically demand a cookie.  And I do.

I get very startled during evening meds. I just don't see them coming, and I'm having a freakout. He better adjust something next time around!

A minute later, Gus and I are loafing at the baby gate - this is a good old day.
Way past bedtime, we art. I stay the night in the art room.

Wednesday

I'm up early. Where's the breakfast? Where's my morning salad? Did something happen? A little bit of a "dry leaf snack" will have to do.

The evening comes, and I'm tucks out in the bundo, on "the first story, or the second story - depends on how you count.

The evening meds ambush comes - I run. Yada, yada, yada, Hydro and Citrate go down, then Sulfa - but not without a fight.

"Appeasement Cilantro and Mint" get served - more like "teased." Just a sprig of each!? Did something happen!?

At about nine in the evening, I get my 0.6 of Metacam. I'm not chaffed. My hoomin wants to like scream like a Macaw at the vet's office that overheard something about roasting and Thanksgiving.

The days are getting shorter.

We art for only a few minutes. The biped is attaching the small sheet of paper with ferocity, graphite, and wet sponge, hoping for something "terrific." I'm posing, stretched out - ain't that terrific enough!?

Thursday

I almost binky this morning. The fluids and meds happen fast, but I'm still mad. I mean feisty.

We're wings level, climbing into a puffy cloud layer of "boring," but the week starts to feel like it's been a year.

We enjoy the blackout, the far side of the Moon, away from getting harassed by the hoomin with cookies and whatnots. We sleep hard.

Friday

This one we put in the "good old days" category. Everybunny and their mother get pics of my golden orbs. I make my own golden globes.
We nap; the homin throttles back to idle the second he puts the lid on the tar pits for the week.

When I flop on my side and make tiny snoring sounds, the biped steals more pics. Does it count as arting?

Later on, we are tucks out and pencils out.

And today? My biped will try to chill and become somewhat less diss-possessed. Good luck with that.

- Charlie
