Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Charlie, "Morning rounds just suck!"
Gus, "And you are!?"
Charlie, "Could you kindly just please bugger off!?"
Vector, Charlie, and Gus
Vector, "If you as much as think about chinning me, I swear I'm gonna cut you!"
Charlie, "OK, that's enough of this nonsense!"

Hellos, Everybun!

She's eating hay - she's OK!

Charlie had a re-check on Thursday, and the V. E. T., Dr. Teed of Keystone Animal  Hospital in Bradenton, couldn't be hoppier with her progress. Everything is healing up as it should.

The re-check happened a day sooner than planned because my hoomin looked at Charlie's belleh Thursday morning and freaked out. What didn't look right to him was the innards adjusting to the new space. The doctor thoroughly felt around Charlie's gut, and all was well. The incision is healing properly, the membrane is OK too, and no - she does have a post-op hernia.

This morning, she got the last dose of the Enrofloxacin antibiotic, and we officially finished her meds. The enclosure will go down tomorrow morning, and Charlie will re-enter her "normal"  environment.
As you can see, we got to spend some time together. I'd visit her, tend to her head, eat her greens and pellets,  then try to rip up her pee pads and, of course, get kicked out after that. But, our visiting hours were plentiful, if irregular.

So,  what will happen next? The dinner salads are already different. Gone are the things with high calcium content, like our beloved dandelions. Sigh. We'll talk to the V. E. T. about including X-rays in wellness checks. Charlie probably carried that stone for a long time. She's been doing so well for so long that my hoomin never suspected something might have been seriously amiss.

We are just grateful to have all this extra time with her. Funny how somebun's near-death experience can hit you in the noggin so hard.

We'll keep you posted!
- Gus
