Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybunny!

Somehow, I completely messed up the anniversary post for Mr. Bun. It was the 13th, last Saturday. Sigh, funny how all at once the time flies and stands still.

The pictures are from May 31, 2014. We had a great EBA that day with plenty of wonderful disapproval, cawwots in the garden, and beautiful weather.

Take care, for now, Mr. Bun, and everybun says "Hi."

Mr. Bun Update

It feels just like yesterday when you and I had watched "The Last Man On The Moon." Now, you and Gene have both gone over the Bridge. Did he mellow out any?
It turns out that time does nothing, or, at least, it does not do much. I thought that maybe, by now, the crater you had left would be absorbed by some Sea of Tranquility but no such luck.
A day hadn't gone by, since last year, in which I didn't miss you.
Binky free, Mr. Bun.

PS: Northern CA fires update. Mike (of Gilbert and Tilly) says, "Our personal warren of humans and buns is faring quite well under the circumstances. Colleagues at my office are working even harder though to take care of their displaced animals as well as a few who are looking for their lost dogs and cats. In fact it seems that most of my co-workers are setting aside the actual tech work of their jobs to do what they can to help - with the support and encouragement of our employer"

We say, "Props to that employer!"

Mr. Bun - Coming Home

Dear Bun, I miss you so much. Yesterday we brought your remains home, but it feels like you stopped eating just yesterday, and we only have hours left together. I still can't believe you're gone. I still keep looking at your old spot and want to serve you water and treats and get you settled in for the night. I miss the sound of you slurping water and the gurgles it made in your belleh. I still keep getting the sink ready in case you need a bum baf. I keep waking up at night to check on you in case you flipped over or went on one of your EBA's. I keep hearing the noises your bum leg made when it hit your bundo.

I try to imagine you on your journey to the Rainbow Bridge. You're free of cataracts; your leg is healthy, and you can be anywhere whenever you want to.

I hope you paused to hop around the moon a couple of times. Everybun says it's quite the sight. One of our hoomins called it the "magnificent desolation." Is he right?

What miracles can you see now? What really makes up the black holes? Do you get to play with photons? Can you see the x-rays coming from distant nebulas? Can you surf the gravitational waves? Do you like the sunrises and sunsets over the Ganges? So many questions and so little peace at heart.

Sometimes I imagine you are still with me, much larger, though, bigger than me in fact. You become a large, fuzzy and furry cocoon around me. You tower over me. I can hide inside you now, and I'm peeking through your semi-transparent form, looking out through your massive chest. You're surrounding me with your presence, always here, never leaving me and me never leaving you. I'm so glad you're willing to share yourself like that and comfort me.

I will never feel like I have done enough for you, or that I took good enough care of you. You have changed my life so much, I can never reciprocate that. Your presence and departure only deepened the mystery of what you did and how you did it.

- Your hoomin.

Binky Free, Mr. Bun

Greetings, Everybun :-(

This post is one we never wanted to make. Mr. Bun fell gravely ill and stopped eating on Wednesday evening. When the mom vet came out after examining Mr. Bun, there was nothing that she could do for him. He had had a stroke, and his lungs were filling with fluid. All we were able to do was hold him and say our final goodbyes. We wished him peace and safe passage during his final EBA to the Rainbow Bridge. Hopefully, the disapprovers will show him around and take good care of him.

We took the picture while snorgling and enjoying treats last Sunday.

Thank you, everyone, for all your well wishes and cheers since we started posting Mr. Bun updates. We take great comfort in knowing you care.

Mr. Bun's hoomins.

PS: We'll take a few days off from posting. We'll try to return on M*nd*y. "X Plus Bun" will post on Saturday, only because it's been ready for a day or so.

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybun!

There you go, my cleanup time with parsley, raspberries, and headrubs. OK, you can't see the headrubs there, but they were plentiful. Hoomin said the morning sun was shining through the door just right so he made the chores into a little art project, sigh...

I had a nice, easy week and I expect more of the same. Hoomin's worried about me, though. His tar pits commute will be long starting M*nd*y with no end in sight, meaning he won't be able to check on me at lunch time like he used to. Cross your paws for us, pwetty pwease, sigh ...

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybun!

This is the commencement of our "working bun dinner and a movie" routine. Greens were plentiful and yammeh, with an excellent SARx ball made with berries and nanner. All followed by a lot of snurgles, a lot of snurgles.

Of course, we're holding our own as best as we can. Best of all we have nothing new to worry about. My belleh is doing well; hence bum bafs are easy. Las week I had a couple of quick rinses, but that's about all.

- Mr. Bun

PS: He put something creepy behind me, didn't he? I'll try to nip him for that; because why not?

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybun!

It's not even getting cool here, but I can feel the season is coming, so we're trying to get in the mood of things. Hoomin had to reach into archives for the pic - it's been a long week and today on the agenda is a lot of "emergency" yard work.

He modified my bundo and added a hay box to it. The container fits along the short side of the bundo. Another benefit of that is that my bum leg won't be getting caught on the opening to the bundo.

He's a little concerned about my gut and not eating enough hay. I've been noming a lot of veg lately, and that's not a good thing always. So now I can stumble into hay very easily. Cross your paws.

Mr. Bun Update

Knock on wood, we have nothing major to report. Hoomin keeps an eye on me a lot and makes sure I can hold my own as much as possible. If it wasn't for the tar pits, he wouldn't let me out of his lap. In the meantime, I have plenty of fresh veg, hay, and treats. We'll keep you posted.

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybunny!

Hanging in there and enjoying plenty of noms. Yesterday we got a package of Linden leaves (with some other herbs we think), and they are ... well, OK, nomable at least. They are supposed to be good for me, so why not, I'll try them.

We'll keep you posted :-)

Mr. Bun Update

 Greetings, Everybun!

As you might have noticed, we had a nasty, soaking storm barrel through Florida this week. Thus my hoomin got to work from home one day and kept a watch me. He re-configured my bundo a little bit so he wanted to make sure that I could find my way to food and water. I'm doing fine with that, and he says the sound of me nibbling on hay is the best sound ever.

This morning we had "nanner samiches" with raspberry and basil. All after proper SARx breakfast, of course.

Forecast for the rest of the long weekend is snorgly with frequent headrubs and intermittent movie naps ;-)

Mr. Bun Update

It's what I call a slow news day. I had One bum rinse this week and a good bit of snurgles. Hoomin figured out a way to rinse the sensitive areas of the undercarriage without getting my lower back all wet. So the drying goes much, much easier.

After the rinse, we had a movie night, with treats and headrubs. We enjoyed the "Last Bun on the Moon" with Bun Cernan ;-)

PS: Yes, we're talking about Eugene A. Cernan and the documentary "The Last Man On The Moon" :-)

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybunny!

The good news is that my belleh is doing much better. Poops are back to normal. I didn't have to get any extra bafs or even rinses. We both enjoyed the break from that.

Hoomin thinks my INU (Inertial Navigation Unit) is on a blink. Celestial navigation is out of the question as well, with my cataracts and all. Or maybe I'm going through a strange change in behavior. I'm not so keen on returning to my favorite spot in the bundo. I'll stop and nod off wherever I am. He's anxious about that, so he's making sure I drink - I get water service in a little bowl, right up to my mouf! Maybe I just trained him right?

- Mr. Bun

PS: The nanner was uuuuuge! It was a homegrown nanner from a friend at work! It tasted a little less sweet and a bit citrusy. Breakfast herbs were very yammeh. The klutz was too slow with the clicker to catch the last milliseconds of the raspberry before it got nomed ;-)

Mr. Bun Update

It better be good! I had to wait long enough!

After the exam, we're waiting for our bottle of pro-biotics.

Here's my salad from last Sunday. It was at least yammeh even if he didn't make it snappeh.

All went well last week except for some soft poops. We had multiple bum bafs last week. Thus, we went to see Moma-Vet on Saturday. I got poked and prodded. Do you how they take temperature at the vet?!? I won't tell you. It did earn me all the treats I wanted, though. The good news is I checked out fine and got commended on how clean my hoomin keeps me.

He, got a plastic container with a little pooper scooper to grab a sample of the soft stuff - if it shows up today - to drop it off for lab work at the vet, first thing Monday morning.

For now, the vet hopes this is related to the change in pellets I'm eating. I have some pro-biotics to go with my food and hopefully that's all I need.

We'll keep you posted :-)

Mr. Bun Update

Nice and easy, rainy day we have ourselves in Florida today. Thus, we'll have extra snorgles and treats. Up there, it's me after last night's bum baf. It's not obvious from the pic, but I'm resting stretched out in my doggie bed on top of my hoomin. Somehow he managed to take a close up.

Baf was quick and easy, all the tender bit and parts checked out nominal and we were "go for snurgle up!"

On the menu today we have a herb salad of mint and basin with a wedge of nanner and raspberry sauce, then SARx snack with mint and basil. He says he'll take pics.

Enjoy your Sunday and we'll keep you posted!

Mr. Bun Update

Where's that salad!

Yes, I'm expecting a proper salad, that's yammeh and served in a snappeh manner!

The good news is, all system are running OK. No sores, scabs or irritation to worry about. However, there's going to be a bum baf, sigh. And snorgles! I've been getting lots and lots of snorgles.

Hoomin says he has a question, though. The series 'The Disapprovers' is slowly winding down. "Slowly" is the key word here. He's on to putting together the last section. It will be two, maybe four episodes long at the most.

Would you care for any more "bun fiction" on Saturdays? He's thinking about short-short stories, self-contained, about 800 to 2000 words long. The theme would be "X plus Bun", named after the old time radio sci-fi series "X Minus One".

It a tough question, because bun servants are a kind lot to begin with, so the honest, constructive critique might be difficult to extract. Keep in mind that this blog is for you to enjoy.

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybun!

Salad with a nanner samich on top turned out very yammeh. We had parsley, basil, arugula, mint, dill, two slices of nanner and a bit of raspberry with timothy hay croûtons. And how was your salad?

The froggy ensemble concert got rained out last week, so we'll try again today.

We'll keep you posted.

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings Everybun!

Hoomin says the best part of the week was evening snorgles with me, napping and listening to a book about rockets and space, and stuff. I did the napping; hoomin did the listening, and all worked out very well.

The agenda for today is all about me. Clean up, perhaps a new bundo, then an evening concert outside, under the bamboo canopy - the frogs and crickets are putting on a show.

I'm hearing he's working on a new salad for me and naner slices with raspberry 'samich'.

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings, Everybun!

Another week, another "knock on wood - all is well" report. So, yes, we snorgle. Hoomin does wrap me up in a towel, sets me in a doggy bed and we "watch a movie". He's in charge of watching, I'm in charge of snoring. All that is followed by a good salad.

Oh, I have another box of hay coming from Small Pet Select. Indeed, that's my thirds box of hay I'm getting. Hoomin thinks he won the lotto!

Mr. Bun Update

Greetings Everybun!

We got the upper paw again this week in the cyclical battle of the urine scalds. Hoomin came up with a way to just rinse the undercarriage without getting the all of my lower back wet.

We had a great snorgle time Friday night. Got a bum baf, got bundled up in a hair towel and we watched Shaun the Sheep movie! My hoomin did the watching while I did some cozy napping. All in all, we enjoyed it. By the time the movie ended, my bum was mostly dry, so blow drying went very fast.
