Cooper

I'm not getting up for you, hoomin. Bring the carafe, leave it and leave!

- Thank you, Sunje, Kurtis, and SCHRR

PS:  Cooper and Sadie wend off to their forever home and then came back when Cooper got sick. He's been peeing sludge and was in stasis. He's trying to get better back at the rescue. We would like to keep our paws crossed for him. He's the sweetest and cutest guy you will ever meet.

UPDATE (evening): we found out not long ago that Cooper didn't make it. It just broke our hearts. We've met the guy so many times over the past few years and he was the sweetest, fluffiest bun you ever met. It really does feel on days like today this cruel world is getting worse.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus, "Raspberry lips!"

Rheya, "I'm really getting partied out here, you know."

Charlie, "It's all stuck in my mouf - what of it!?"

Good Evening, Everybun!

By looking outside here, in the Tampa Bay area, you would never know there's a Category 4 monstrosity spinning the Gulf, making landfall near New Orleans. We have hardly any breeze, and the skies have only a few clouds, looking like the vanilla, fair-weather cumulus.

Trying to pivot from that to anything else makes this peace and quiet feel even more surreal. The "relief" and gratitude that "it's not our turn to run" is tenuous. My hoomin went through some "what-if" scenarios as if it was our turn to run. Put us all in one basket or two? What about food and water? Pee bin bedding, pads? Pack one x-pen or two?

The only good news in this death sim is that my hoomins wouldn't have to come back here because of the tar pits. We could stay away for however long we had to.

And you know what? I wanted to pontificate about art and arting.

Good Night, and Good Luck!
-Gus

Espresso, Charlie, Rheya, and Gus Update

Rheya, Charlie, and Gus, "The 'first' dinner together."

Rheya, "What's with those party lights, hoomin?"

Charlie, "It's gonna be a long night, hoomin, very long."

Rheya, "She likes me, right?"

Greetings, Everybun!

This past M*nd*y, Rheya moved in with Charlie and me. She is still isolated from us through a "double-wall" x-pen, but she doesn't have to eat her dinner salads all alone.

No bun and hoomin got any sleep that M*nd*y night. Charlie, my sweet, magnanimous Charlie, took it upon herself to learn the "intruder" a lesson. She paced and ran all night along the x-pen perimeter, "rattled the cage," and did her best to get a chunk of Rheya. That reenactment of the Battle of Algiers went on till the morning.

Then, everybunny knocked off for the day. And the hoomins? Who cares! They got some sleep eventually, after what felt like being up for two days without a break. I have heard they slept pretty well Tuesday night.

Today, Charlie is in a state of tacit indifference toward Rheya, and everybun is taking it for a sign of great progress. Maybe, just maybe - the x-pen will go away someday.

We'll keep you posted,
- Gus

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso, "What's taking so long!?"

Rheya, "Rapberries!? Of course, there's never enough raspberries!

Charlie, "I'd give you a one-liner, but why should I?"

Good Evening, Everybun!

It's been a decent loafing day. Any day when the hoomin doesn't bother you and instead servers the snacks like it's supposed to - is a good day. I meant the "it" part.

The arting part didn't go as planned, of course. When does it ever? But, the evening is still young. My hoomin started something, but, you know how that can go - it's the thought that counts. At least it's the right thought this time.

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso, "Five in the afternoon is way too early for me, hoomin."
Charlie, "M*nd*y, bunstructing M*nd*y!"
Rheya, "Yeah, the bundo freaked out and tried to jump out of the enclosure. I barely stopped it, hoomin!"
Charlie, "The hoomin arranges everything in the Bunnapolis and I disarrange everything."
Gus, "Yes, hoomin, a romantic dinner among the ruins."

Greetings, Everybun!

We're glad it's the weekend, finally. Maybe we should leave it at that. No hurricanes are heading this way, and the skies are blue.

Afghanistan is very far away from here too. Maybe that's what made the M*nd*y extra M*nd*y-ish? It sure tripped up my hoomin. He remembers when the Red Army went in there way back in the day. He regressed to being a little kid and found himself listening to "Radio Free Europe" and "Voice of America" broadcasts. Those used to be the preferred means of listening to the fashionable propaganda back then.

In other news, Covid breached the family over a week ago. We're all fine here at home, but my hoomin's sister is getting the works. She's lucky that she is staying out of the hospital. Thump!

What's a bun to do after a week like that? I'll recommend arting - again.

We'll keep you posted,
- Espresso

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Espresso, "Well, the dinner salad got here early!"

Rheya, "So, now the silly clicker thinks I'm all gray, eh?"

Rheya, "Look at all this purple! Oh my bun! How did you get all this purple!?"

Good Evening, Everybun!

We've had a bunderful, lazy, cloudy day, with high overcast, light wind, and a bit of rain. Not much came of those arty endeavors of my hoomin, but he did play with the clicky thing and enjoyed taking pictures of us. I tolerated him.

He tried to take it easy, but if you're gonna take it easy, you gotta go easy - it's a simple as that.

Now we're all petered out from doing nothing. But that's OK; we'll get some rest tomorrow. It will be a good-for-nothing M*nd*y. At least it will be a day closer to winter and cooler temps in the North-West. And that's a lot!

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie,and Gus Update

Charlie, "You wish! You wish you could loaf like this, hoomin!"

Espresso, "What now, hoomin!? It's way too early, even for me."
Greetings, Everybun!

My hoomin can't loaf like I do, no matter how he wishes he could. So, I heard that the next best thing would be making the whole day into an art day. May as well. The storm will pass far away in the Gulf, and all we'll get is a bit of rain and wind.

I wish we could send some of that cool, wet stuff to Mr. Rabbits Guy. They are getting roasted in the North-West again.

We'll art all day because there's nothing else left to do. What cure is there for the dry heaves of blinding, mind-numbing disbelieve induced by watching La Florida become a mass casualty event? The Covid bus seems to be running down every, even slightly hesitant pheasant. It then backs up over them in slow motion, kids and all. Thump!

We'll keep you posted,
- Charlie

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good Evening, Everybun!

First thing in the morning, my hoomin waddles in half asleep and starts dispensing breakfast cookies. Everybun gets a half multivitamin digestive. It's easy now - take two cookies and break them in half. Something for urinary function support is next - same thing. Charlie, Gus, myself, and the foster girl, Rheya, get half a cookie. My hoomin shuffles back and forth through the house, trying to have a meaningful conversation with us before his coffea kicks in. It goes nowhere, but we get the plain old digestives. A whole cookie each this time!

I get my pellet refill and with a full mouf, try to size up the hoomin - could I weasel out another digestive from him?

I decide to loaf instead, and for a moment, tune into my mind-reading channel. It's an instant regret. My hoomin sits next to me, reading some miserable article from the international press. I like it better when he sticks to reading about regulations, weather, or anything else for those lesson plans. Then he picks up something and holds it in his lap, paying close attention. It's a small item, made up of lots and lots of paper. I don't recognize it at first.

I try to tune in closer. I'm picking up a sense of dread again. It's early 1940; somewhere in France, a town called Cambrai. Pilots, lots and lots of pilots waiting, anticipating something terrible, but none dare to say anything about it. The story will get worse before it gets better, so I change the frequency again and leave the mind-reading behind.

I watch the hoomin for a while longer and wait for Charlie to come over. She's the best at getting cookies out of the hoomin.

And sure enough, there's the sound of the bag getting opened. How in the world does she do it!?

Good Night, and Good Luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus, "Yada, yada, yada, the foster girl is doing fine."
Rheya - all's well after the surgery.
Rheya, "Well, hoomin, I feel mischievously fine!"

Greetings, Everybun!

Rheya is recovering very well from her surgery. She eats and poops like a beast and is back to honing her mountain bun-goat skills, trying to get out of her enclosure. What a difference a few weeks can make.

We're keeping our eyes on a conga line of tropical disturbances in the Atlantic. It makes ya wonder what they're humming.

Other than that, we'll keep it short today. My hoomins are exhausted. The new tar pits start to sound like a line from "We won't get fooled again" by The Who. OK, it's not as bad as "Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss" but you know how it goes - once disenchanted, twice suspicious.

We'll keep you posted,
- Gus

Little Guy

Are ya sniveling again about how short the weekend's gonna be!?

- Thank you, Carol!

PS: Little Guy and his bunwife, Cutie Pie, are rescues from the Georgia House Rabbit Society. These days they're trying to keep their hoomins out of trouble. Because, you know, hoomin.

Their hoomin runs an Etsy store with all kinds of goodies - willow and kudzu leaves and toys for buns. The stuff is as bunny-tested as it gets.

The store is here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/lilysbunnytreats/
