The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

The good news is the family in Asheville, NC, is OK. Things are tough, but at least everybun is safe. We're still trying to process all that and come to grips with what happened.

Of course, there's another blob that we're watching, stirring in the same region from which the last Helene came. Lucky us. To make things more interesting, the early spaghetti model is not favorable to us. Thump!
We'll keep those window coverings handy - just in case.

My friend and wanna-be murderist first class, Espresso, started sneezing last night again - with discharge again. So, my hoomin got the thumping drops out again. Things are quiet for now, and I will try to talk to a V. E. T. tomorrow. We'll start with Dr. Teed.

We're fishing for some kind of maintenance plan for the poor guy. My hoomin is afraid there won't be any permanent recovery from this. What is the best that we can do at this point?

But just for today, we'll chillax. My hoomin did some arting already and is threatening more. Otherwise, what's the point of surviving all this, right?

Goodnight, and good luck!
- Gus

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus and Charlie, "Very bourgeois, very flaunting - hurricane night dinner salaaad in bed - under electric lights, with air conditioning and all."
Espresso, "Nope, no sir, we disapprove of hurricanes berry, berry much Thump!"
Charlie, "Why sit in one loafer when you can take up two!?"

Hellos, Everybun!

We got so incredibly lucky on Thursday. The hurricane went by in the Gulf, yet hoomins felt like it made a direct hit. Someone clocked the winds in St. Pete at 80 miles per hour. That's hurricane strength. Of course, when the beast made landfall, it was at Category 4 with 140 miles per hour winds. Nine feet of storm surge.

Our power never went out, but most of our street is still without. The power company sent another update with an estimate of completing repairs sometime tomorrow.

We've lost all contact with family members in North Carolina since Friday morning.

In other news, I'm getting my recheck with Dr. Teed at Keystone in Bradenton on Tuesday. Here's to a clean bill of health.

Spressy finished getting nose drops and is only getting eye drops - for another week or so - we think. We'll try to get him in for a recheck combined with Gus'es wellness check. We'll see how it plays out.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

The insanity of last week is starting to wane a bit. Just for today, everybunny is eating, pooping, and not sneezing.

Charlie continues to recover and is getting back to her feisty self. She tolerates Orbox really well - the antibiotic she has to take for five days past surgery - and is eating more and more without prompting.

Her "field hopspital room" has buntastic visiting hours - you can stay with her as long as you want, and there's an all-you-can-eat buffet of pellets, treats, and her favorite veg. No, it won't last forever, but for now, the girl just needs to eat. And so, we hung out together, and I groomed her ears, nose, feet, and nose. I'm so glad she came through the operation. Here's to not having to do it again.

My hoomin tried to decompress after the morning rounds. On top of four dramas, the tar pits really kicked his caboose last week. But you how it goes: he's gotta do what he's gotta do 'cause we gotta eat.

And last but not least -  we've made it to another Fall equinox! And yes, in the previous M*nd*y, we had a tiny, little baby cold front come through!

Goodnight and good luck!
- Gus

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

Our week turned out to be way more exciting than we expected. Espresso started having sneezing fits last Sunday night, and his right eye started discharging. Welp, the eye drop came out at one in the morning.

So, on Tuesday, we both went to the V. E.  T.  We swapped Gus for Espresso for the appointment, and Gus will get his checkup in a few weeks.

Espresso is doing better - his eye is doing well, but he's still on drop for the eye and for sneezing.

I got diagnosed with a hernia - not everything healed up properly after the surgery last month. And so we went to see Dr. Teed at Keystone on  Thursday. Everything went well, and I'm recovering - back in my little X-pen "recovery room" for a few days.

The same day, Spressy got a bout of stasis. He recovered without having to go to an emergency clinic, but it was close.

And Gus? Same old - same old - disapproving, demanding cookies, keeping his eye on Charlie.

We'll keep you posted!
- Charlie

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Charlie
Espresso
Gus

Good evening, Everybun!

I keep hearing, "Hoppy Birthday,  Charlie!," and wonder, "What gives!?" Ah ..., my hoomin thinks I'm a  month old now, that it's all gravy from now on, and if he had any smarts, he would take each day like I do: loafing, noming, hopping, and just being glad that the day is to be had. Even if it's M*nd*y. Because as nasty as M*nd*y  can be, it's still a day.

So, I sayz, "Fine - hold the candle and double up on the cawwots!"
In other news, we're enjoying Spressy not sneezing. My hoomin got pretty good at giving him those Oflaxicin nose drops, so it's as little traumatizing and quick as possible.

And this upcoming Tuesday, Gus and I are going for our wellness checks at our new V. E. T. Thump!

Goodnight and good luck!
- Charlie

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Espresso
Charlie
Gus

Hellos, Everybunny!

Last Sunday Night

"So, a bun's not  allowed to have the Bunday Evening Blues?" The meds came out. I forgot the blues in short order and remembered the fresh hay and cilantro. Watching my hoomin keeling over the bin, holding my poops, and weeping with joy - priceless.

 M*nd*y

The 3:30 am wake-up sneeze worked like dark magic. The sorry tosser kept on flopping and tossing until the coffee pot started growling and gurgling. I loafed very well the whole day.

Tuesday

The Festival of Sneezes started around midnight, and by morning, my hoomin couldn't tell what M*nd*y this was.

Well, I got to see Dr. Gronsky at BluePearl that afternoon. Nose drops twice a day for two weeks - thump!

Thumpday

No sneezes since Tuesday morning. Hoomin thinks it's Bunsgiving or something.

Thursday

The BunFecta is always complete. These days, Charlie gets up and marches over to the gate to spend the night with Gus. Half a planet's rotation later, she marches back to me.
And I sneezed again.

Friday

Hoomin switched everything around - my room has a "new to me" tunnel, but my favorite tiny bundo is gone! Now I smell Gus everywhere.

Today

Chillaxing - the blobs in the Gulf and the Atlantic either disappeared or are fixin' to turn north early. It's like a day off.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

Loafing - that was the agenda for today. My hoomin is pensive, though - he had to make more entries in Spresso's sneeze log. We're hoping it's a phase that will ebb a little on its own.  And if it doesn't?

We'll keep an eye on the poor feller. If he worsens, we'll talk to the doctor at BluePearl and schedule a re-recheck. Having some kind of plan makes it a little easier to deal with the unknown.

But tonight, we'll enjoy the salads with all those new newfangled, low-calcium trimmings. That bum is downsizing the servings!

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

It's been a quiet week in the burrow. We're still trying to get used to the "new" Charlie. My hoomin can't get used to her - every time we loaf nose-to-nose, he won't stop staring.

Of course, the good news is that my hoomin is starting to learn his lesson - Gus and Charlie will have their wellness checks in a couple of weeks. Yes - Charlie has seen her share of doctors recently, but this visit will be almost a month from the day she had her surgery. We're still on edge over her recovery.

And how am I doing? That's a good question. It's been three months since the rhinoscopy, and I am sneezing a bit. It doesn't seem to progress though. I'll have a few quiet days, then some sneezing fits (still no  discharge), and back to "normal." My hoomin keeps a log of those episodes as best he can. So, for now, we're just keeping our paws crossed.

We'll keep you posted!
