Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

It's a quiet day for us and a very busy day for my hoomin. I heard he'll come back smelling like strange bunns. He's going to meet some new rescue moufs at the rescue.

The biggest project around here is figuring out how much water we drink. How much water I drink. So, my hoomin is coming up with different tables to keep track of it. Measure out my Fruit H2O and check how much is gone by the end of the day. Fun stuff.

Then there are the paintings for Bunfest. He tries to work on them at least a little bit every day. Is he gonna make it? Nobunny knows.
Gus is starting to plot. Yes, that's for something completely different.

We'll keep you posted!

Baby "Shaye"

...slurp, slurp
...are you sure ...slurp, slurp,
this is organic ...slurp, slurp,
bunnana milk!? ... slurp, slurp,
cause ... slurp,
I'm gonna find out!
... slurp, slurp.

- Thank you, Ken and Kaci!

PS: The desert warren is hopping with baby bunnies. Two rescue bunnies surprised Ken and Kaci with 2 litters. The first litter is 6 weeks old. 2nd litter is 3 weeks.  This little 3-week-old bun is cotton tail. Mom is feeding 6, and this little fluff needed some help, so Ken and Kaci are syringe-feeding him to supplement Mom.

Thank you for giving them a chance!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

It's been a quiet day in the burrow. It took all day for the sun to burn off the soggy overcast. Not that we mind. For some reason, winter goes by so fast, and the hot days seem to last forever. So, yes, we've grown a bit of a resentment over that.

We've been loafing and napping all day. The breaks to drink some fruit water and snack on crunchy pellets don't count. And my hoomin is just glad we're eating and pooping. He says that really helps when he's trying to finish the two pieces for the Tampa Bay Bunfest raffle. He made some progress on the painting above but still has a ways to go. Thank Bun, the afternoon is still young.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

January's been a difficult year, but we're still here. In other good news, Charlie's Potassium Citrate arrived early, and the treatment is underway. We have already scheduled a follow-up with the v. e. t. for the beginning of March.

She appears to tolerate both medications well, so now we're putting one paw in front of the other, enticing her to drink as much as possible and wait.

I'm getting my vaccine booster today, but it's still very early in the day, and I guess I'm not supposed to know about it. Oh well. I love it when the biped tries to pull one over me.

And the biped will try to spend most of the day painting. Somehow, he managed to do a little brush-swinging every evening this week, so the piece is slowly moving along.

And Spring is here. Yeah, I have no idea how that happened. We don't have to run the A/C - yet, but the moment is coming.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

"Bunlaris 1 - The Disapproving Space Fifers"

Good evening, Everybun!

We've been doing a lot of that stuff in the picture. It's warming up outside, and it feels like winter is leaving. So we're trying to make the best of it.

Charlie is tolerating Hydrochlorothiazide well. My hoomin only noticed she was running away from the thought of a water-feeding syringe. Should this be a cause for worry? We'll dial up the v. e. t. M*nd*y morning.

My hoomin made good on starting the second painting. The second set of bunns on canvas has eyes and is also alive. But, the sorry sod's been laying low today. He's still beat up from the cold bug. Here's to hoping the next week will be a little less exhausting than the previous one.

Goodnight and and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybunny!

We're warm and comfy and doing well. Of course, we've rolled with the punches all the way into the weekend, so we'll try to shake it off, chillax, and do more art.

This morning, we started Charlie on 0.11 ml of Hydrochlorothiazide twice daily. Hopefully, it will help her pee out the sludge. She has plenty of fresh and fruit water around. We managed to feed her about 60 ml of water a day via the syringe, with very little wrestling.

We are still waiting for the Potassium Citrate, which will hopefully lower Charlie's urine pH and help prevent kidney stones. And if we recall the doctor correctly, it should help dissolve some of the calcium carbonate.

And for something completely different - no, we did not get any snow. Thump! North Florida got plenty, but the best we could do was a little bit of cloudy, soggy skies and cold temperatures. Maybe next time.

The first of the paintings is underway. At the full size of 36 x 48 inches, it feels like a completely different beast from the small color studies we did last summer. Here's to completing the first layer this weekend!

We'll keep you posted!

Have a Safe, Hoppy, and Reflective Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

Look at me - look at me! Surgery after surgery - and yet one paw goes in front of the other. We overbun.

Let me drag Bob Hoover into this - "If you're faced with a forced landing, fly the thing as far into the crash as possible." Then we get up, shake it off, and carry on. The dream survives.

His cold is letting up a little, he feels better, and cookies are spilling quickly. We're extracting as many treats from the biped as we can. And I'm drinking up as much pineapple-flavored water as I can.

We'll art and loaf, and we'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We keep hearing more winter stuff is heading our way. It's been a nice, cloudy day, making you feel winter-ish. My hoomin threw in the towel and resigned himself to light arting and loafing. He even dragged his sorry duff to a hoomin v.e.t. He wanted to go and meet a few new bunns at the rescue, and even that will have to wait.

Charlie is doing well, getting spoiled with fruit water. Today, we're trying pineapple juice. She seems to like it and slurps it up quite readily. Hopefully, she'll get more water this way than she usually would. The other option is doing sub-q fluids. Hopefully, we won't have to resort to that. Of course, we're sitting on pins and needles to hear about Charlie's lab results.

And last but not least, it's a long weekend for my hoomins, so we're grateful for the extra cuddles and doting.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

Charlie's checkup yesterday went pretty well. We have a consensus on monitoring that little hernia "situation." All things considered, the surgery would be risky, and she may never need it.

A fresh set of X-rays showed no changes as far as kidney stones are concerned but showed a buildup of urine sludge. Charlie was gracious enough to oblige with a sample that went out to the lab. The sample was cloudy, with a lot of sediment at the bottom.

So, the immediate plan is to make her drink lots and lots of water. We started flavoring the water bowls first with crushed raspberries. This morning, we are trying apple juice flavor. And my hoomin promised to get some pineapple and others. We'll see what sticks.
And she's getting extra water from a feeding syringe.

In other news, my hoomin came down with a cold and feels like a death on a stick. I do not know what the thump that means, but I reckon it's not pleasant. And it is not THAT thing. He made sure to test for it.

The plan is simple: drink plenty of fluids, chillax, and do art.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

We're just letting our hoomin spoil us rotten. It's a tough job, but somebuny's gotta do it. Maybe he feels bad about Espresso getting his shot yesterday, and the tear duct flushing. Oof.

The good news is, 'Spresso is doing well. His eye is not weeping anymore; the ducts are draining properly.

In other news, this morning, my hoomin thought setting up his "studio" next to my bin would be a good idea. I tolerated it as much as I could, but even my patience had limits. He would sip his coffea beverage - without as much as a token offer to share - and nag me about what he thought of his sketches. I knew that sooner or later, he would have to get up and disappear for a minute. He did. So, I came out of my bundo, tore up what I could, and promptly disappeared.

I don't think he got the point. He wailed and wailed about how he doesn't care what I think, that he'll start on the painting today, and on and on. I warned him. Then he threatened he'd have some preliminary sketches to show next week.

Goodnight and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Chalie and Espresso
Charlie and Espresso

Hellos, Everybunny!

First, we're keeping all our friends and wildlife affected by the Cal fires in our thoughts. And now we kinda have absolutely nothing to gripe about.
We're having a day, and we're grateful. We do a lot of that stuff in the picture. Our hoomin can't get enough of that. Go figure - must be the small pleasure in life.

Espresso got vaccinated today. On top of that, the doctor was able to examine his weepy eye and flush his tear ducts. We're stopping the NeoPolyDex drops  (he's been on them for four days), and we'll give him Oflaxicin for seven days. He'll have a recheck on February 1st during the vaccine booster visit.

Now we're enjoying this coldish, overcast day. I wish we could send some of it out west to Cal.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Good evening, Everybun!

How cold is it, you ask? It's flopping cold - that's how. Well, no,  it's not that bad - yet. And to be honest, we don't. Nor do we care. But we do know this short winter break is clod-hopping to a close. And we don't trust this fangled year. Not one bit.

Tomorrow, we'll try to get Charlie a visit at the Avian V. E. T. We'll try to make up the appointment time we gave to Karat a while back :-( My hoomin is pensive  since he ran his paw under Charlie's belleh and "felt a bump." A tiny bump, but enough to shred his guts. Of course, he's trying not to scare poor Charlie with his shredded guts, but I know about it, and I  don't like it.

But for today and tonight, we'll chillax and loaf. And we'll stay glad for the day, and a day with Charlie at that!

Goodnight and good luck!
- Gus
