Bun Evening, Everybun!

For once, we've nothing scary to report. Charlie is doing well, spends a lot of time in the hay bin, and we'll take every tiny win we can get. Her follow-up appointment tomorrow is going "well enough."

Last Tuesday, my hoomin and Buntie Susan made a delivery run with Charlie's portrait to Dr. Teed in Bradenton. Everybunny at the clinic loved the piece, and I heard it was great to see the good doctor without one of us in a carrier. As they ruminated about Charlie, the doc called her a "tough old rabbit." So, just picture me now making a shiv from an apple stick. Oh, come on! You know you want to!

But he's right, and it's not for the faint of heart, and it is tough, this business of being an old rabbit. This year, especially, had wrung us dry. Getting with the Holiday program is just not happening. There were losses in the past few months that we didn't even mention because it's been so difficult to process and accept them. The constant hover on the edge of oblivion with Charlie, and time doing its thing on all of us, does not help.

We do what we can. We try to keep this HalloweenThanksgivingBunsMass going year-round. Who said we have to give up the light? Because something, something, this or that Season?

Our Ms. HalloweenSmasBun stays lit up, and we try to squeeze in a little celebration every morning, with presents whenever we can. Now, things like syringe feeding are buzzkill, but we roll with them.

This morning, for example, we hung out together; Charlie loafed, and my hoomin sat with her until it was time to call it a morning and get tucked in for the day.

I hear there's another cookie party tonight at art time. Yeah, the sorry sod can't help starting new projects.

Good night and good luck!
- Gus
