The Bunday Evening Thumps

25-11-30-the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_1834
Gus, "Thump!"
25-11-30-the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_1833
Hoomin, "We'll get back in the studio to art and cookie before you know it, Charlie."

Bun evening, Everybun!

Charlie continues to improve. It's a slow slog, but at least we're heading in the right direction. We have pellets coming; her temperature is stable, and she nibbles herbs. We even scored a dandelion leaf each! I know, I didn't have to share!

Of course, Charlie can only recover at her own pace, and the waiting is a little maddening. But that's how those things go, and not any faster.

The big question my hoomin has now is how to tell a UTI is coming before GI Stasis sets in?

Tomorrow, Charlie will get more sub-q fluids at the v.e.t., so maybe we'll sneak some questions for the good doctor.

And thank you everybunny for all the healing vibes <3

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Thanksgiving night, grateful for every moment.
Friday, waiting for Dr. Teed.
Friday, waiting for Dr. Teed.

Bun afternoon, Everybunny!

Charlie is in the middle of fighting a UTI. She continued declining through Thanksgiving, and by nighttime, my hoomin thought that this was looking like a UTI. Shortly after, my hoomin talked it over with Buntie Susan and realized we still had some Orbax on paw, so  Charlie got the normal 1.3 ml for her weight. Buntie Susan was doing all she could to help save our keesters, like we were her warren!

Charlie saw Dr. Teed at Keystone in Bradenton, and the good doctor confirmed the UTI. Talk about getting "lucky."

Charlie's bloodwork looked great, though, so the kidney was doing OK.

This morning, Charlie went to see Dr. Zellner at Avian in Largo for a previously scheduled bladder expression. The sludge was ugly, and the bladder was inflamed and painful. Charlie also got a proper belleh massage and extra sub-q fluid on top of that. So they did everything they could to fit us and provide care well beyond what we planned for.

We're going back on M*nd*y for more fluids. And every time we get Charlie anywhere near Dr. Zellner, it's a good thing.

It's only been a little more than forty-eight hours since all this started, but it feels like an eternity.

I finally got to see Charlie today. My hoomin tried to keep me away to keep an eye on her pellet production, but then decided, "Thump it." So we're going to loaf, and my hoomin will just let her be for the day so she can get some rest.

We'll keep you posted!

Hoppy Thanksgiving!

25-11-27-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1851
25-11-27-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1836

Hoppy Thanksgiving, Everybunny!

And if the holiday is not in the cards today, here's to a day off, a long weekend, or time for yourself "just because."

I think we're doing well. My hoomin is not sure Charlie is OK, but he's trying not to freak out. Something about how she behaved this morning set him off. Now it's still hours before coming out of our usual pattern of mostly napping, and it's going to gnaw on his last two brain cells.
She had her treats this morning, eats willow if you offer her a leaf, and had an extra treat. Even some normal-looking pellets came out. Does any of it help him? Nooo. Of course not. Maybe that's where we are at this point - constant vigilance and anxiety. Sigh.

Other than that, the mood is festive. He cleaned up our rooms, and that always feels like a proper holiday. Every morning feels like Thanksgiving. And yes, it's a long weekend too.

We'll keep you posted. No news will be good news. Isn't that the best-case scenario most of the time?

The Bunday Evening Thumps

25-11-23-the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_1841
25-11-23-the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_1843

Good evening, Everybun!

We're doing well, and all signs point to a quiet, boring Bunday night.
The hoomin let us the whole day, without checking on us every few bunminutes, or so. Of course, he plans for today. What happened is that he stayed in bed most of the day recovering from a minor medical "thing." OK, he took a vax shot. I mean, whatever he has to do to be around and take care of us, he'll do it.

But he says it wasn't pretty. I sayz, "Well, if you're complaining, I got your sympathies right here. In the dictionary, between sh...," but Charlie butts in says, "Gus, be nice! That's not kind!"
I sayz, "Whose side are you on, Charlie!? Whos!?" She just footlicked me and jumped into the hay bin."

And to think there I was, getting my tooth ready to give it to him with that last mercy bloodletting. And she does a thing like that.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus
25-11-22-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1845
Charlie

Bun morning, Everybun!

We're enjoying the simple things today. My hoomin claims those are not necessarily "little." Like on Thursday night, when he stabbed me once with the needle, and I took the whole 50 ml of sub-q fluids. Or that we had a great week of eating and pooping, and going crazy for breakfast snacks. Outside's feeling like the habitable zone for a change.

He's going to try to decompress today, but, of course, I have thoughts about that. If he tries to curl up and sneak into one of our bundos again... Maybe it's the tar pits that are doing that to him. That place is at a point that if nothing comes of it again, it will fold. So the days there are long and morbid. The good thing is that the tar pits are mostly in his state of mind. I mean, the guy works ten feet away from our bundos in the living room.

We'll try art then. We're really behind on that.

 We'll keep you posted

A little lower, lower, more grovel, MORE GROVEL, and you're gazing too much! Hoomin, this is Freddie - grovel and try to suck up to the rabbit now - properly this time!

- Thank you, Avian and Animal Hospital, and Dr. Zellner!

PRE P.S.: Freddie found his forever home!

P.S.: Yes, Freddie is still looking for his forever home. He's about a "year-ish" old and, through a set of unfortunate circumstances, ended up in the care of Avian and Animal Hospital - and he's looking for a forever home.

Freddie is mainly made up of velvet. If he's not pure rex, he's mostly rex - and disapproval, of course. His litter box habits are somewhere between excellent and spotless.

He does not seem to be bothered by birds, dogs, or cats - his temporary residency is next to other critters looking for forever homes, and other patients are going through the lobby all the time.

Charlie, "I had to look this one over very, very carefully. Where the thump are we hopping to with this one!?"

Bun evening, Everybun!

The big brouhaha tonight is watching if Charlie will eat and poop as usual or if there's an exciting evening of syringe feedings and medications on tap. I don't see anything going on, but my hoomin is freaking out. The last few Sundays were not exactly kind in the "business as usual" department.

We just got done with our daytime naps, we did our bin rounds, had a couple of snackers, and all seems well, but you wouldn't know looking at the hoomin. He's not gonna rest until a few more hours from now, and a whole lot more nomming of all sorts.

And for something completely different, maybe last week we arted more than we realized? The end of October and the beginning of November turned out to be darker than we could handle. The only natural response was arting, as much as could be squeezed into whatever free time there is.

We had a grand old time, noming, and supervising the hoomin. Being a studio forebun has its challenges, and rewards, of course. You have to let him work, but you also have to extract whatever treats you can. It's not for everybunny.

The serendipity of "Invincible Espresso" came when we realized he could rest his paw on a skull. Lem's "The Invincible" hung in the air that night, and the skull became the obvious choice to pull it "all" together.. Espresso, his passing, the need to art it, the obsession with "The Invincible" as a motif that won't go away.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

HELLO!? Is this thing on!?

What!?

Yes! Charlie is doing great! We're making golden orbs!

WHAT? SPEAK UP! I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

I make orbs too! We're eating and pooping. YES! WE ARE DOING ALL THE THINGS! Right.

Oh, sorry, guys. I sat on the silly thing and couldn't hear anything. Dang equipment.

It's been a bizarre week, with what felt like two M*nd*ys because of the holiday. The big thing is that Charlie really is doing well. As if nothing ever happened. We kicked off the weekend with a nice round of arting and cookies. Of course, we are the studio forebuns so we waz last night, even Thursday.

The poor hoomin got all confused because the arctic blast we got made it feel like January or February, and he wondered about, thinking Florida Bunfest is next week.

Now the plan for the weekend is to reconstitute as much as possible. Art, nap, study - yes, study, it's the "same old, same old" again.

We'll keep you posted!

Hoppy Veterans Day with Charlie Update

25-11-11-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1815

Here's to a hoppy and safe Veterans Day, everybunny!

We thought it might also be a good day for an update on how I'm doing. And I'm doing well. I started fully coming around Sunday night, and by M*nd*y morning I was my usual self. Last night, of course, I had that "Why are you watching me so closely" look as if nothing ever happened.
My hoomin called the vet anyway and said he'll send them a full update on what happened, with poop pics, timeline, the works.

This morning, we really stretched our time together. We just sat there grateful to be, grateful to be together, nomed a little willow, a little kudzu, treats made from Sarx with a hint of bunnana. I washed it all down with pineapple water and got on with daytime napping business. Then more hay, and an apple stick for dessert.

In other words, we've a Sunday make-up day on our paws.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Charlie and Gus - The Bunday Evening Thumps 2025-11-09

Good evening, Everybun!

It's Sunday afternoon, and we're anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first, real cold front. We're also anxiously awaiting the moment Charlie starts pooping again. Yes, you've guessed it - something went sideways during the night, and since this morning, the hoomin's been on the ball, trying to restart Charlie.

At least this time, the meatsack got the Metacam dosage right. We did the meds, the massages, running around the room, and rage eating hay in the bin. So far, all the winnings amount to a few pellets. We're really hoping for more this evening.

When the hoomin checks on her on the bundo, Charlie is all tucks-out, loafing. So, we don't really know what's going on. But I have not seen her all day. She got a fresh hay bin this morning. The hoomin closed the baby gate to keep us separated, and we're waiting.

So at the moment we have nothing. If you have some good vibes to spare, we sure could use them.

Good night and good luck!

Hellos, Everybun!

I'm doing much better. Something happened last Sunday night — we don't know exactly — but my appetite went south. On M*nd*y I heard the word "gas" a lot. We were lucky enough to see Dr. Zellner in the afternoon, and I got one of those famous massages like a Concerto in G Major to Medium for Skilled Fingers and an Obdurate Bun. The good doctor broke up the gas bubble in my gut, felt things around, and induced contraction in my belleh. There was no blockage or anything else that could be of concern. I didn't even have to get one of those pictures where you can see right through me.

And while we were at it, she also squeezed the living p*ss out of me too and was very hoppy with that - because clear and normal urine came out.
Talk about a twofer.

We did catch it early, and later that evening, poops started coming out. Now, I've got a lot of follow-up messages at home. Of course, those were not as glorious as the doctor's, but they kept things moving.
We've made it back to the edge of the woods sometime on Tuesday afternoon.

It's been a real head scratcher. Did I overindulge in something? Let's go with that, because we can tweak the diet a little more. For the most part, we're at the edge of what we can change to keep this from happening again.

So it's been a week. Is my hoomin now a complete basket case or a case of baskets?

That would be twenty-four baskets, correct? That's about right.

We'll keep you posted!

Good evening, Everybun!

A day of remembering everybun that had crossed the Rainbow Bridge, only more so. Our morning frenzy lasted much longer than expected. My biped really cleaned my art room. There were places he didn't dare to touch since February. It demanded an excessive dispensation of cookies. We didn't object, of course. And you heard me right—I said "My room."

Now we're just loafing. And still arting. It's particularly important when stuff tries to come up and crush your throat. And that's how we ended up working on this little piece, which will become a small color study.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

25-11-01-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1775

Bun morning, Everybun!

Sometimes funny things happen to us when the moon is out. Then it takes us a while to recover. So that's what we'll do this weekend. Of course, we're doing well otherwise. And yes, we enjoyed this week of overarting mayhem. We stayed well past our usual bedtimes, enjoyed all the treats, and pretended for a minute that the world is not what it seems.

And a bunderful cold front got here! We can't remember the last time we had such great weather on Halloween. I have a hunch now that, instead of waiting till the last minute, we'll start to work on the next story. Why not.

And yes, I'm a buntastic critic.

We'll keep you posted!
