Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

25-06-14-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1415
25-06-14-gus-charlie-espresso-update-DSC_1412

Bun morning, Everybun!

The good news is we're doing well. Charlie's as vibrant as ever, and our hoomin marvels at our golden nugget deposits. When I say "vibrant," I mean it - you should see her run after cookies.

Charlie's portrait is off to a good start - the biped did the line work tracing on the canvas - under our strict supervision, of course.

I kept looking at the background and the tracing and wondered since the hydrogen in my body came from the Big Bang, which star made my Oxygen? Anybunny? Vega? Arcturus? Our own little, medium size main sequence star?

When my hoomin cradles me in his paws, and we walk up to a window at night, we look at the sky, and I wonder, "Where did all my O come from?" I feel like an orphan not knowing.

In other news, it's getting hotter and hotter here, and it's not even summer yet! So, we're going to draw the blinds and try to chill. I even invited the biped to stretch next to our bondo. We'll goof off and art later.

We'll keep you posted!

When you show up late for the morning bunification - stuff happens, hoomin!

Ginger Snap

Of course I'm a picky eater now - the greens need to be hyper-organic, and the "picky" to be done only on a strawberry-bunnan-pineapple moon!

- Thank you, Susan!

PS: Snapper continues to recover from a bout of head-tilt. She is doing remarkably well and is transitioning to her new "normal" life. The question remains: what will the new normal be like? Here's to hoping there won't be a relapse. Of course, Snapper is a fighter and just doesn't know any better than to make the best of any situation. We'll keep our paws crossed for her.

Good evening, Everybun!

Chillaxing is still the order of the day. You'd think my hoomin hot script for napping the way he's been so diligent about it. Of course, we take priority, so as long as my whims are satisfied - I don't care what the biped does.

And that's the excitement for today. Charlie's portrait is at a standstill. We'll do more background work because the printout of the line work we need to move along won't be ready until tomorrow. Go figure, the machine at Kinko's knew when to break down. Wait - what? It's not Kinko's anymore, but FedEx? What's your point? You sure seem to be close to my lawn - get any closer, and I'll tell you to get off it.

Yes, I get cranky. My hoomin thinks I want head rubs when I don't, and I get cranky. Cookies are late - I get cranky. I'm bored - and guess what? You get the idea.

In all seriousness, my hoomin really believes every moment with us is a gift and treats us accordingly, and sometimes that's overbearing.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

The good news is we have nothing to scream and thump about. Last night, Charlie got her sub-q fluids at home. And I don't know what the hoomins did, but Charlie didn't spiral into panic and didn't go into hiding. As if she didn't hate the hoomins! She wanted cookies afterward as if nothing ever happened! Dang, how did that happen!?

In other "no-news," my hoomin hardly got any sleep all week, and last night was no different. Sigh. Now we're all just relaxing and trying to do nothing. The sorry sod stayed up late into the night fixing his new computer, got up at the regular hour to serve cookies and meds, and is now essentially a zombie.

And really? How conscientious of him - fixing a new computer. Like how do you do that? I didn't know you had to spay and neuter a new confuser! What would happen if you didn't? Would you get a surprise litter of little laptops? A house of little penguins if you're using Linux?

We'll try to catch up on naps and get some rest. Thank Bun the day is still young - so here's to arting later. That portrait of Charlie won't finish itself.

We'll keep you posted!

AJ Cannon and Storm Cloud

I don't care the V.E.T. is nice - we're gonna prepare something special for this!

- Thank you, Susan!

PS: Storm Cloud and AJ to the V.E.T this past Saturday. AJ didn't feel well, and it got traced back to urine sludge - doesn't that ring a bell? Storm Cloud kept him company and was otherwise free to ruminate and plot revenge for the indignities they both endured. These two, along with Buntie Susan, saved Charlie's butt the week prior by letting Charlie use their wellness appointment at Avian Animal Hospital.

The Bunday Evening Thumps

the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_1203-
the-bunday-evening-thumps-DSC_0596-

Good evening, Everybun!

And just like that, the Year of May is gone, and the New Year of June is already trying to outdo the previous one.

We found out that a couple of our friends are moving to Europe pretty soon. Of course, their warren is going with them. And that's how you do it. But it's an awful lot to process all of a sudden.

The good news is Charlie is back to her usual self. She even stopped hating on the hoomin. Her appetite is great, and her pellets are golden.

Unfortunately, I doubt I can whip anything else out of my scribe today. He's going a little catatonic on me right now. Maybe I can revive him with a nip or make him smell some acrylics or something?

At least the afternoon is still young, and we have a lot of room left for art. The background for Charlie's portrait is moving along.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

It's been an unnerving week around - again. Charlie and I went to the V.E.T. with our hoomins this past Thursday. The meat bag administered Charlie's sub-q fluids under the watchful eye of a bun nurse. Well, nobunny died, but Charlie hated my hoomin's guts for two days. He's gonna have to do better than that.

The good news is we're doing well otherwise. Eating, pooping, and all that stuff that lets hoomins sleep easy at night. You take the wins that you can.

We'll keep you posted!

Have A Safe And Hoppy Memorial Day

Bun morning, Everybun!

It's shaping up to be a quiet day, and we're glad. For breakfast, we scored a blueberry each. That's because Charlie really dislikes the taste of Potassium Citrate. When she starts to nom the blueberry, my hoomin sneaks in both medications in her mouf, and she doesn't skip a beat. No fussin', no wrestling over the syringes.

OK, we scored a couple of Sherwood treats as well. The tiny ones, shaped like hearts. That's a far cry from the assortment of the Oxbow ones we used to get. And don't even mention the greens. We'll bring the treats to our next appointment and show them to the doctor.

My hoomin remembered last night that he got us a couple of forage boxes from Lilly's Bunny Treats at the last Bunefest. So, we're still working on one of them.

I have a feeling that this adjustment is really harder for my hoomin than for us. Charlie is not skipping a beat - she's active, keeps eating hay like there's no tomorrow, and carries on as if nothing ever happened.

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus and Charlie, from the archives.
Charlie and Gus, "No worries - we're gonna ferment that apple fruit water!"

Good evening, Everybun!

An update on Charlie's condition is a mixed bag. She's eating, drinking, and pooping - that's the good part. The v.e.t. took an x-ray, and it showed a heavy buildup of sludge. A sample of her urine went out to the lab for testing.

The next step for Charlie is getting 50 ml of sub-q fluid once a week and no more crunchy pellets or cookies. Or treats. Thump!

And my hoomin will be learning how to do the sub-q fluids. The meat sack that almost pegged out from a needle. He's gonna do Charlie's fluids. Ha! Well, next Thursday, we have an appointment at the v.e.t. so he can do the fluids under supervision. What an adventure, thump!

Of course, I won't get whatever Charlie won't get.

We managed to survive last night without the dinner salaaaad, and this morning without the cookie frenzy. But, hay, what can you do.

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Hellos, Everybun!

The long weekend is off to an unnerving start here. This morning, my hoomin discovered a few spots of what looked like dried blood on one of our loafers. And Charlie is the one that likes to use them the most. When she's not inside one of the bundos, she loves to loaf in any of the loafers everywhere.

We're fortunate enough that buntie Susan let us use the appointment time she had scheduled for a couple of her guys. It's downright scary how the Universe works sometimes.

The puzzling thing is that we're not showing any other signs of distress. We're eating, pooping, and peeing as expected. We went nuts over the morning cookies like we always do. Charlie is loafing tucks-out style, and our bottoms are clean. Oh yeah, we got our undercarriages inspected, alright.

So, the appointment is at half past noon today, and we're both going in. Hopefully, it will be nothing too serious, but you never know - we're ain't getting any younger, thump!

We'll keep you posted!

The Bunday Evening Thumps

Gus and Charlie - this will be painted ;-)
The Disapproving Fifers, color-study, final.

Good evening, Everybun!

It's been a quiet weekend. My hoomin got done with his sick day and was very disappointed. He mumbled something about liking to be just down for a day without doing much. Welp - why doncha just do that from time to time!?

Then there's the "color study." He took it to its forever home and now is all bummed out about being done with it. I sayz, "But for every 'finished piece,' you come up with two others that need to be painted! So, what gives!?"

You see, that pic above of Charlie and me - it will get painted. And one only with Charlie, and Spressy is waiting his turn, and on and on. So, I sayz to him, "March down to the store for that golden lotto ticket, and you'll have all the days left plotted out." Then he whines about not being ready for "that" kinda commitment.

OK, you haz a piece of canvas to stretch, so stretch it. When was the last time you saw a piece of canvas stretch itself, eh!?

Good night and good luck!

Espresso, Charlie, and Gus Update

Gus and Charlie
The Fifers, Gus, and Charlie

Hellos, Everybunny!

It's been a quiet week in the burrow. Everybunny's doing well. Our hoomin is undergoing  a planned "under  the weather outage," so we expect a ton of "pity cookies." See, when he's down for the count like that, dispensing treats for us makes him feel better. I sayz, "Oh, really!?" Have you seen my brass knuckles? I think I lost my bone saw, too, or did Spressy borrow it and "forgot" to return it?

The other good news is that the "Fifers" color study is done and will go to its forever home tomorrow. First thing this morning, we supervised the application of a protective clear coat over the piece. No, it's not varnish; this is something called an isolation medium. We'll put down another one this afternoon, and then - then we'll put down a coat of matte varnish.

I know, it's fascinating stuff, but guess what - the sorry sod tends to involuntarily dispense treats when at the easel. I sayz, "That piece needs about ten coats of this stuff and then the other stuff! And maybe you should start on a portrait of Charlie!?"

We'll keep you posted!

Medicine, shmedicine - organic nannerinis are medicinal!

- Thank you, Susan!

PS: A couple of weeks ago, Snapper came down with an inner ear infection or EC. It's been a "Two hops forward - one hop back" type of recovery, but she's hanging in there and improving. It's nerve-wracking and exhausting on her and her hoomin. But the meds seem to be working, and Snapper is having a lot more "good moments," even though she tires quickly. Today, she has a follow-up with Dr. Teed at Keystone Animal Hospital in Bradenton, so here's to a great visit! And please keep the good vibes coming <3
